Not what they used to be
I ordered this one to replace my old black, classic shell jacket from TNF, from probably 10 years ago, which I just lost and was a favorite. I'm returning this one as it's definitely not the same thing. I can understand design updates but the quality has gone down considerably. The first thing you notice is the fabric. It just looks thinner and cheaper than it used to be. The most important thing on any piece of clothing, the fit, is bad: the shoulders are pointy and boxy, when they use to naturally follow the curve of my arms in the previous version. Even though the waist and trunk have a very good fit, they removed the adjustable string from the waist and cuffs. They're just loose and look sloppy. And since the length is huge (for me at least, at 5'9", 155lb) it just looks too long. The logos front and back, are too much (it just to be just one in the back, which looked more discrete to me, but that's a minor thing), but the more logos the cheaper it looks in my opinion. The logos are no longer embroidered, but printed. Nothing majorly relevant, but it adds up to the cheapness of the new design. All that for $132 (2024) is not a good value. You find nicer off-brand or Amazon brand jackets for half or less than that, much better quality and fit. I'm all for compensating people for their work at the workshops but with the quality of this item, I doubt they're not marking it up considerably and producing it for pennies on the dollar. One star to The North Face for cheapening a great product. Unless there is the olde one somewhere in the catalog, but I think I went through their whole website and this is the new one.

I reccomend to down if you get this because I’m usually a medium and I got a small and it fit me a bit too baggy. I’m 5’7 140 pounds
