This is by far the best water purifier I have seen.My older water purifier was a RO filter. Although the tap water TDS level is around 160 ppm at my home we unknowingly fell for the RO. The TDS level of water after filtration in RO used to be less than 10ppm (it was 4ppm). I checked it myself with a "TDS meter", now this is fine if you drink it once in a while like at hotel or restaurants, but to consume the water whose TDS level is less than 10ppm at home unconditionally everyday is bad for health. Our body needs alot of minerals and it should be atleast 150ppm . I wasn't getting enough mineral in my water and every member in my family experienced health problems frequently for which doctor advise used to be "drink more water". We did, but we didn't get enough minerals which was being removed in the RO. so finally once I realised it's super low TDS level I immediately ordered this kent purifier. I specifically ordered this model because it has no water storage tank, the previous filters all had water storage at my home and the cockroaches used to dwell inside the huge filter and breed, we often used to see excretion of cockroach and cockroach itself fall into the stored water. So this storage less water purifier from kent doesn't keep any moisture for cockroaches to be attracted. Ofcourse you need to buy a portable water storage to store water if you want, otherwise Frequnt use of switch to fill just a glass of water would shorten it's life. The purifier is slim and doesn't take much space. It's inexpensive, it's ouput TDS level of water is exactly 150 ppm which is best for human consumption and it's KENT. Although, the taste of water isn't as good as it used to be in the RO purifier (because now it has good mineral content)This purifier has no pump to push the water. Flow of water depends on the head of your overhead tank. So if the tank is right above your roof then it's flow will be slow. I recommend you to invest in a good quality prefilter. Since there is no mechanism in this to expell out dirt water like in RO. over the period of time it gets choked with dirt/salts/mud. So spend good on prefilter and make sure you change it once in 6 months, Also you need to replace inbuilt filters once in a year.If you can do that, there is no better water purifier you can get other than this.

Its was a very prompt delivery and service from amazon, the installation was a sheer inconvenience. The installation guy dropped his drill machine on my kitchen tap and broke it, due to which my entire house was flooded and the water supply for my entire apt building was stopped for 3 hrs. The plumber charged me a good 700 for repairing that tap plus i had to buy a new tap which was another 1600. The whole reason I bought this filter was that I did not want to shell out money for RO as it was not fitting my budget. The installation guy denied all responsibility and instead was ready to fight for it. I contacted the company regarding this and they said they will call back but to no avail and once i called them they registered the complaint but never got back to me. After complete installation the filter is working fine but the process was very tedious and troublesome. I ended up 2300 short of money that i started with which would have gotten me a better filter and also no demonstration, no attachment guide at all. the installer was just trying to run away as fast as he could telling me that, its was very easy to operate and he doesn't need to show anything.

I did a lot of research before buying the Kent Ultra. If you have municipal water, this is the unit for you. Do not buy an expensive RO unit and spoil your health by drinking mineral depleted water. This unit has large size filters that can last a whole year compared to other brands. Many other purifiers have tiny filters. This is a functional 3 stage filter unit. No high-tech sounding "Bio-Magic filters" or "Piezo-Electro-Magic filters" to make it a 5 stage filter. Just the essential Sediment, Activated carbon and the essential UV filter. The build quality is also very good. It has a UV fail alarm that is very important. The UV is 12 watts compared to the 8 watts in many other similar purifiers. Easy to install and maintain. The recommended filter change interval is 12 months. I installed a Pre-filter that costs around Rs.300 (on amazon) before the Kent Ultra so that I can ensure not much dirt gets into the Kent Ultra. I can replace the pre-filter element myself twice or thrice a year depending on how dirty it gets. No need to open the Kent Ultra for a whole year. The installation was prompt and hassle free. On my request the technician installed an additional post-carbon filter after the UV for Rs.500 (filter + connectors). If you install the unit where direct sun light hits, please make sure it is covered with black cloth. I used aluminium foil. Place the external white plastic pipes inside black flexible electrical pipe. Sunlight causes aggressive Algae growth inside the pipes and filters and it will clog in few months. Even though it looks nice, I wish Kent change the transparent cover to an opaque one. I had a Zeo-B earlier. I registered 4 calls for support and no one turned up.

Post 5 yrs usage review:Good choice- if compact & less space is criteria;- works only during municipal water running;- just UV functioning;- small family (4-5 people) just for drinking purpose;Downs:- optional to go for additional filter, just to ease mud etc., as suggested during installation for inr 1500/- (which we haven't opted);- high service (each visit) costs of (inr 500/- to 1000/-) by Kent (post free service); which is not reasonable for a filter, that costed just inr 3900/- (in 2015) which is not liked by middle class families;- in between regularly few weeks: it doesn't work. We have just left it as it is, lot it got adjusted itself later;- water filtered one will come slowly always, need to stay all through the process.To conclude:Ok filter for our minimal needs & hope it works, for few more years;Kent: please charges service fees - matching with original filter costs.Don't make money through service charges simply.
