Excellent coffee maker
This is an excellent coffee maker, and a major upgrade from previous models. After our previous Bonavita failed after ~2000 cycles (we drink a lot of coffee in our household), we were excited to try the latest and greatest. The detachable water reservoir makes filling much easier - just carry over to the sink and fill up with fresh filtered water. The coffee grounds basket clicks right into the top of the maker, instead of resting on the carafe like the older models, which makes prep easier. The glass carafe doesn't keep the brewed coffee as warm as the thermal carafe, but the glass does now sit on a heat plate that will stay warm for ~2 hours (I think) before automatically shutting off (I couldn't find this specifically documented, but have observed anecdotally). But hey - if you care about making good coffee, you aren't going to just let a fresh pot sit on the counter all day - you're going to drink it! And the glass carafe is such an aesthetic upgrade, the minor loss in old-coffee-warmth is easily offset.Brewing is easy - press on, click brew or bloom (bloom is better, of course), and walk away. It beeps when it's ready, and you simply remove the carafe, add the top (same as their older models), and enjoy!I see a bunch of low star reviews that frankly I find confusing. The coffee maker works like a charm, is easy to setup, and easy to clean. Not sure what else one can ask for, while also making a stellar cup! Infinitely better than any cheap-o Mr Coffee maker - but hey, if you can't taste the difference, your wallet will be blessed!

Bonavita has gone downhill--and Sur La Table doesn't care. Don't buy this coffeemaker!
After years with two versions of the Connoisseur coffeemaker, I "upgraded" to the Bonavita Enthusiast, unaware that the company has undergone "business restructuring". The machine I received (from Sur La Table) did not match the instructions. There's a button at the base of the filter basket that must engage with the lid of the carafe in order for the coffee to release from the basket (otherwise the basket will overflow and send coffee grounds crawling down the sides of the machine and splooshing onto your counter.) Within two months, the button and its adjacent parts detached from the basket. But it's even worse that that: the lid of the carafe is like the early Connoisseur in that it TRAPS COFFEE IN THE LID--gross--you can't take it apart to clean it. And the water reservoir leaks water every time you detach it to refill it. Furthermore, water doesn't fully drain from the unit, so if you unplug the machine and invert it when it is "finished brewing", water that you can't see (because the clear water reservoir is empty) will drain out of the center of the unit and sploosh onto your counter. Surprise!!! When I contacted Sur La Table to replace the broken filter basket, they told me to contact Bonavita. Bonavita says they don't carry the Enthusiast anymore. When I contacted Sur La Table to return the unit, they told me to get Amazon to accept the return. When Amazon wouldn't accept the return because it didn't fall under their A-to-Z promise, I contacted Sur La Table and they said to contact the manufacturer (Smart Co.) and gave me a phone number. Huh? Wait, what? If you sell a poorly designed product that falls apart in two months, there is no satisfaction guarantee? I urge you not to buy any more Bonavita products and I'm boycotting Sur La Table.

One of the best on the market
Makes a great cup of coffee. Fast brew. Easy to use. A cup for this maker is only 5 oz not 8. But makes perfect coffee and the insulated metal carafe keeps it warm for quite a while without a hot plate. I like the pre wet feature. Also easy to clean.

10 month UPDATE *Finally a cup of coffee that makes my heart happy
Only brewed 2 pots so far and I ve to say they have been delicious. I did alot of research an was torn between this an the moccamaster. Told myself I'd try this an if I had issues with it I'd get the moccamaster instead. So far I'm very happy with my choice. Do wish the coffee would stay hot longer. It is a shame there's no drip shut off after brew so it just continues to drip on the hot plate. And I wish there was a replacement Carafe you could buy for it as I now handle it like a new born because the glass is so thin an fragile feeling. I did know the cons on this purchase so they were not a shocker. I will update in a few weeks when I've gotten her more broken in.UPDATE* I've had her for 10 months now an gotta say I am looking for a new coffee maker for Christmas. I cant take how quickly the pot gets cold. Huge bummer when I go back to top off my cup 20 mins later an the pots barely warm. I've also stopped tasting the difference from a bloomed cup and a brewed cup.

Good hot coffee, I meant a really good cup of coffee
My Bonavita 1800 finally died. I tried to locate another one just like it but it was discontinued. I tried another model from Bonavita but I couldn't get that really good cup of coffee no matter what I tried. Read a bunch of reviews and tried this one, I'm getting a really good cup of hot coffee again. Some of the reviews complained about the water mess, if you pay attention and place the coffee holder back in its cradle everything no mess at all amazing how that works. Another one was its to noisy it woke up my wife, really, it was the smell of an amazing pot of coffee that woke up your wife. It's going on two months and no problems and it puts out a very good cup of hot coffee
