Primal Freeze Dried Dog Food Nuggets, Chicken; Complete Balanced Meal, Topper...

I had this left over from a dog that stopped eating. She passed away. I was able to get a miniature dachshund. Well I tried quite a few of the freeze dried foods because there were great sales. He didn’t love hardly any. I settled on Dr Marty’s he ate that best. Well like I said I had this left in my cabinet and figured I’d put one nugget on his regular food just to not waste it. I started noticing that he was picking the torn up primal out first then coming later and eat the other food! He’s a little picky. I noticed he was doing that every day. So I’m buying what he really loves. He likes Dr Marty’s but he loves Primal. All quality food is a bit on the expensive end but if you want a healthy dog you have to put the work into every aspect of keeping him healthy. You wouldn’t feed yourself junk all the time then be surprised when your cholesterol, and everything else is high. It’s worth it.

Have tried so many different kibble options at food store. Always tried to pick the high quality and/or grain free. Sometimes dog would like it but there would always be periods of time where food was left in bowl for 1/2 the day. Dog has always had gas that would clear a room as well. Started feeding just this and it is wonderful. The gas is gone and he loves it. He starts jumping when he sees us putting it in the bowl and it is gone in about 30 seconds. He then goes back to his bowl periodically to nudge it looking for more. I was worried that he might be hungry but he doesn't seem to scrounge around the house looking for food dropped by my kids anymore than usual (is still a dog after all) and I have never heard stomach growling or seen him look uncomfortable. I think he just REALLY loves it. We have tried the duck and lamb but I like how the chicken is usually a couple of dollars cheaper and it also crumbles easier when we prepare it. Now for the bad part. This stuff is CRAZY expensive to be the only food. My dog is a 15-20 pound yorkipoo so I give him 4 pieces twice a day. At $20plus a bag we go through it much faster than I would like. I can't even imagine if I had a bigger dog. My mother-in-law sees how much he loves the food and asked about it for her English Setter. We both agreed it would be way too expensive to be a sole food source for that size dog. We continue to use because we like not having to leave the room due to the dog's gas but I wonder how long I will be willing to pay this much before trying something else (honestly-probably a long time--his gas was really bad!!)

I have been using this food in addition to raw frozen dog food for 2 years. My dogs are healthier, and their teeth are in great t shape.

Love this dog food, just wish it wasn't so expensive. I can only use as a supplement to dry food because it is so costly.
