Proxxon 27082 Thermocut 12/E Hot Wire Cutter for Free Modelling in Styrofoam

It’s not working after purchasing transformer for the same

I bought this to be able to create customized polystyrene packing for a very delicate sculpture that I've made. To cut the polystyrene the way I wanted I needed a tool that could cut it in depth, and this did the job. Now my sculpture is fully protected with handmade packing. The tool is great, it warms up quickly (5 to 10 seconds) and when you stop holding the button it turns off and after a few seconds you can start modelling the wire again without burning your hands. It is very easy to control. The power cable is not removable from the handle and the end plug connects to a different socket than normal power adaptors, so be careful, if you are not an electrician you won't be able to use a different power supply model. You do need to get the original Proxxon power supply. The price advertised currently (June 2014) is £32.95, but I had to pay £61.84 as I added the Power Supply and delivery. Quite pricey but there was no other option, I couldn't find a cheaper one with good reviews. I recommend buying the product and the power supply from the same seller so you save on delivery. Mine came from Germany but it arrived quickly in 2 business days. It also came with a UK Plug adaptor.

works great. used it to carve molds, for molding concrete shapes, from 2" extruded polystyrene. No problem.

Como muchos de los que nos gusta el aeromodelismo, había utilizado sistemas "caseros" para cortar el foam o porespan, motivo por el cual estaba indeciso a la hora de adquirir éste. Pues bien, un mes después de su adquisición pienso como he podido estar si esta herramienta, que sin ser nada del otro mundo, tiene una gran versatilidad, permitiéndote realizar fácilmente eso cortes "especiales", que hasta ahora tenia que hacer usando cuchillas, o lo que es peor, "fundiendo" el foam con un "objeto" (normalmente el soldador) caliente, lo cual generaba una desagradable (y toxica..) humareda.. La capacidad que te da esta herramienta para realizar "vaciados" en el foam te abre muchas posibilidades para realizar trabajos que, al menos en mi caso, quedaban descartados, bien por su imposibilidad, o bien por el hecho de que al realizarlos mediante cortes con cuchillas, corrías el riesgo de debilitar mas de lo debido la maqueta.. Por lo demás, está es una herramienta te abre posibilidades que no te habías planteado antes... Muy satisfecho con mi compra PD tener en cuenta que se alimenta con 12V, por lo que es necesario el alimentador adecuado..

Das Thermocut 12/E ist hervorragend. Damit kann man Styropor sehr gut schneiden ohne dass einem Styropor-Kügelchen durch die Gegend fliegen. Saubere und exakte Schnitte. Schneidet wie durch Butter. Keine Kleberreste am Schneidedraht. Merke: Gerät verklebt nicht! Habe das Gerät an ein älteres PROXXON-Netzteil (AC/DC Adapter Typ Nr. 28700 / Input 220V ~/50Hz/43VA und Output: 12V / 2A / Fuse: T400mA) angeschlossen. Klappt einwandfrei. Kann das Thermocut 12/E weiterempfehlen.
