Greatest Heroes and Legends of the Bible: David and Goliath

My children love this movie. We ordered several from this company, and they are nice for the price you pay. They don't compare to the blockbuster The Prince of Egypt, but they relay the bible quite accurately, in a child-friendly manner. The producers are also careful not to show violence too, if that's a concern for some parents. You never see any bloodshed, or any weapon piercing someone.

My grand kids love this DVD. I got many more bible story DVD's in the set and they love each one. They pick one out as we drive to church. They sing the songs and know each of the stories. What a wonderful idea to teach the bible stories to the young ones!!!! I recommend it highly!!!

I was very impressed with the quality. I was half expecting 80's quality or cheesy storytelling, but am very impressed with cartoon quality that matches anything on Netflix and storytelling that entertained adults as well as kids.

You can't go wrong with this when the price is so low. The animation quality is like that typically seen in basic Saturday morning cartoons, which is good enough for kids. What I like is that all the videos in this series give all the important details of the story, rather than giving a shallow, watered-down version as is usually the case in children's stories. These will entertain preschoolers up through junior high and the script is very closely based on the scriptural account. The only reason I didn't give this series a 5 is that each video has a hokey song that could definitely have been left out, but for such a low price and good script, I can overlook that.

I ordered severeal of these to show to my kids. As we read each story I wanted to show them the movie behind it. The kids enjoyed these very much and at a inexpensive cost, it is definitely worth it. It's very engaging and can allow for much interaction with the kids.

I purchased this DVD looking for a way to engage my preschooler's interest in Bible stories. It ended up not even being worth the little I spent on it; although it had a cute little lamb David spends time with, and some songs in between narration, and not really bad animation...I was appalled at the portrayal of David himself. He is bitter and resentful towards his brothers, angry at them, and even one of the songs in the show sings about getting back at them. He trips one of them before meeting Goliath and laughs at his brothers expense with the others. Is this a "man after God's own heart"? Is this really someone who sang psalms of praise and worship as he watched the flock? Is it even remotely possible to harbor such worldly attitudes one moment and go out in the name of the Lord and defeat an enemy giant with calm faith? Please reference James 3:10-18. I will be looking for a different way to teach my children Biblical principles.
