Classic RPGs with Quality-of-Life Improvements
⭐ Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster – Long-Term Player Review I purchased the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection about three months ago, but I wanted to spend real time with it before leaving a review. So far, I’ve completed Final Fantasy I, III, IV, and VI, and I’m currently working through II and V. After many hours across the collection, I can say this is a worthwhile purchase for anyone looking to get into the Final Fantasy franchise, whether you’re brand new or a longtime fan. 🎮 A Classic Collection, Modernized the Right Way Having originally played these games on their original cartridges and consoles, I was curious how well they would hold up. The answer: surprisingly well — and in many ways, better than ever. There are a lot of smart quality-of-life improvements that make these classic RPGs far more enjoyable today without stripping away what made them special. One of the best examples is in Final Fantasy III. In the original version, the final boss gauntlet had no save point, meaning if you lost late in the sequence, you could lose hours of progress. The addition of a quick save feature dramatically reduces the frustration and stress of these long endgame sections while still keeping the challenge intact. ⚙️ Quality-of-Life Features That Actually Matter Two features I didn’t expect to use much — but ended up loving — were: No Encounters Auto Battle The no encounters option makes long dungeons far more manageable, especially when you’re trying to explore, solve puzzles, or conserve resources. The auto-battle feature speeds up many of the more repetitive fights and grinding sessions, cutting down on monotony without removing the strategic elements of boss battles. Yes, these features can make the games easier — but more importantly, they make them more respectful of your time. ⚔️ Difficulty – Easier, But Not Easy The games did feel somewhat easier than I remembered, though it’s hard to say whether that’s because of experience or if Square Enix slightly adjusted the difficulty curve. That said, these are not easy games, especially Final Fantasy I and III. There were still several difficulty spikes that required me to stop and grind levels for hours before progressing. The challenge is still very much alive. 💰 Value for the Price I purchased the collection on a Black Friday sale for $35, which was an excellent deal — especially since I already own multiple versions of these games. However, if you are new to Final Fantasy and this is your first time owning these titles, I honestly think the regular price of $60–$70 is fair, considering how much content is included and how well these classics have been preserved. 💾 Physical Release Done Right A big shout-out to Square Enix: All of the games are on the cartridge. No downloads required. That’s increasingly rare in today’s market, and it’s a huge plus for collectors and preservation-minded gamers.

A classic collection if you love classic RPG video games.
Nice to have all the classic 2D FF games on one cartridge. It also fixes some of the flaws of the older ones, such as how slow battles were originally, and with options like a suspend save, and the custom option menu ability to get more experience points, and money from battles it allows the games to become less grindy. There is also an option to temporarily turn off random enemy encounters. (But remember you need to battle to level up, so don't rely on it too much.) Also, includes some art galleries, and a neat music player. One minor nitpick is, unlike other collection games on Switch, this one doesn't have a "Pick a game" main menu, and instead splits the 6 games up into 6 different thumbnails on your Switch interface, which might annoy some gamers. Other than that it is a great collection to have, and a good way to catch up on the series, or to start the series on. (I recommend playing 4, or 6 first, but you can play in any order, as the games aren't linked much, and have new characters each game, so they can stand alone.) The new graphics, and music are nice, though there is an option to use the original 8-bit or 16-bit music if you prefer. Unfortunately no option to see the original graphics. Regardless, it's highly recommended, and a good start for those getting into the games.

FF for the win!
You get the whole collection in this one game. I haven't played any of the Final Fantasies in along time. So glad I got this game. Some slight welcomed upgrades in sound and colors. save files work!!! You do not have to blow on any cartridges, or find the funny way to smash/slide them in. These are classics. Get it while you can.

Retro childhood reborn on switch
Great collection of classic turn based final fantasy games. It’s like reliving my childhood as a 41 year old with the convenience of playing on switch. All these games are classic and fun. If you like turn based rpgs you’ll love this. Action rpg fans may want to stay with the more modern final fantasy series. Can we get more classic square soft and other RPGs from the same era also remastered or remade.

I had been looking for this for a while. Now I have a physical copy of all the FF games
This had sold out earlier, and I was glad when it was re-released. I played most of these games and I was a kid, and had been eager of getting FF3 (which has thus far never been released in the US). These are all just as great to replay now as when I was a kid. Highly recommended for any RPG fan. As an aside, I think that this might be rated as partial nudity? I'm not exactly sure what that's talking about but can only assume it means it shows the pixel version of a dwarfs (Cid's) butt (not zoomed in but the same size of all the characters on the screen), during a 2 second part of one of the games. It is not something that would be a barrier for me to recommend this for any kid to play.

Classics all in one spot
Got this as a gift for Father's Day and I love it! The nostalgia of playing the original Final Fantasy games, but with some quality of life updates that make it even more fun to jump back in.

a collection of historic JRPGs!
i don't know where to start writing this review. i cant put into words how important these games are to video gaming history. this collection includes Final Fantasy 1-6. for those who may not know..in the west, we got Final Fantasy 1 on NES and Final Fantasy 4 and 6 which was released as Final Fantasy 2 and 3 respectively on SNES. i know it's confusing, but in this collection, the chronological order have been corrected. for those who are younger or never played the originals this information wouldn't matter, just buy this collection and you're all set. i have tried out all the games in this collection, all require a very small download around 50mb-120mb. no big deal for me. so all the games seems to be included INSIDE the cartridge. so it's not like they put 1 game on cart and you have to download the rest of the games, nope, not here, you get ALL games included on cart! good! that's what i want!! im looking at you capcom!!! i won't get into how the games are like, it's orignal Final Fantasy. they need no introduction. this collection are for older fans, this is a no brainer for them, i also urge younger gamers to buy this as well. this are games i will tell people that they MUST play beforre they die. these are games that built the modern JRPG genre that many people love today!! i would also go as far as to say that these games also built up the entire modern video gaming culture that we enjoy today! no one can deny the impact Final Fantasy has had on video games. it's impact is still felt today. these games are historic, they are pioneers. they are incredible. go buy this collection right now!! there is still some complaints i have w/this collection. no manuals!!! what the heck square!!! these are old school JRPGs and they didn't think to include some physical goodies like a manual and maps like back in the old days!! all i got are stickers!!! seriously?! square did this collection dirty. they should have honored this collection w/physical goodies like a manual and maps. also, why is this collection $70?! i see no reason for square charging this much! this collection should be $40, $50 tops!! Square is being greedy. well there is my review. i hope this helps.

I like it
Not a fan of the final fantasy series but I’m a big fan of the retro style of games. Reminds me of the SNES era. That was the selling point for me.

Nostalgia
