The Junkers Ju 87 Stuka: A Complete History

I wonder why this fine work has not seen more reviews? A very readable history of the iconic JU87,from design to the end of WWII. Design,development,pilot's descriptions of operations,adequate photo coverage,and a comprehensive history of the operations it featured in. Most revealing is just how effective a weapons system it was,far better than is usually stated,and that it's causalty rate was no worse than many other bombers in the fronts it was deployed in.

Good book with lots of good info. A slow read.

This publisher is known for quality work and this book is another feather in their cap. Sound research and well planned in format. It is as if you are there from the inception of the Ju 87 through the trials and tribulations, and then your immersed in its lengthy combat history. You not only read when pertinent changes and advancements happen in chronological order but the author explains in succinct detail the how and why. If you have only dabbed in this planes history before, now is the time to step up to the big leagues. You will not be disappointed.

My disappointment with this book is the very low quality of the photos. To begin with the picture of Ju 87B on the dustjacket is reversed. Most of the photos are grainy. It is a noble notion to write "A Complete History" of the this iconic warplane, the publisher, with their reputation of releasing high quality books, should have insisted that high resolution reproduction of the period photos would be accepted. Cutting corners to save is a regrettable mistake.
