What kind of quality are they

these are intended to use until the battery is dead and then pitched. so i expected poor quality myself. however, they are well made for a disposable light. ive purchased another two packs of them for use in all kinds of places. they have all been assembled well and all worked consistently. the switches are the only moving part and they are easy to work when its dark and ur going by touch alone. the light is adequate for use in a dark glove box or corner in ur vehicle or closet. the bulbs seem to be focused to project light straight forward rather than in a 360 degree fashion, so u just have to test ur placement before using the adhesive. about the batteries- a little work with a razor knife appears to be all that is required to replace the batteries when the time comes. i have used them in the hard saddlebags and console area of my touring motorcycle. they have held up to 90 degree temps and vibration very well. buy em, u will like em and find all sorts of uses for them.

How easy it to to remove the light and does it leave a sticky residue or damage the surface where it was stuck-on?

ive removed one drom its original location. first, u wont break the light by removing it, BUT u will need a coin or screwdriver to pry it away from the surface. the residual adhesive came off with careful finger work and a little rubbing alcohal for the last smudges it left. no surface damage to the plastic it was mounted to.

How do you change the batteries once it dies?

Not made to replace the battery, but some have reported replacing the battery by cutting the plastic housing open with a sharp knife.
