i have at least two of these in each afak or ifak or really any advanced medical kits i have. they are small, compact and will be used when neccissary. they store well and have a lot of gauze. guess im betting my life on them if i end up using them! so good thing i like them.

This is one of those items that I didn't realize I needed until I needed it. I've always kept sterile gauze around the house, as well as storing it in my bleed control and first aid kits. But rolls of gauze are pretty bulky, and take up a lot of space. Give it all the other stuff that I cram in my kits, space is somewhat at a premium. So when I recertified recently I decided to pursue compressed gauze sponges. And this is the one that I wound up with. Put simply, these are every bit the equal of any gauze roll that I have ever used, and better than most. It's thin. And while it looks like there isn't much in there, you need to remember that it is highly compressed. Once you rip the package open, it will expand greatly. Whether you need to put pressure on a bleed, pack a wound, or pad an impalement, the accordion fold packaging makes it much easier to use than trying to deal with a bulky gauze roll. Sure, you may need more than one package for a major injury. But the same is true of gauze rolls. Decent price. Essential first aid supply.
