can i use this for pointing sash windows to masonry instead of burnt sand mastic?

I haven't tried this, but I think it would be risky. I'm guessing you're filling small gaps and I think it will probably crack and fall out. Might be a good idea to try it on one area that needs pointing and leave it for a while and see what happens.

Is this product definitely Brown?

NO ................................. the product I bought is grey but I painted it later to make it more sand stone colour. It is however a very good quick drying product and can be shaped easily before it dries too hard.
