Great product

I was excited to use this, but it's completely incompatible with my phone. The moment I connected it to my iPhone 16 Pro, a warning message popped up saying the accessory could not be used. The specific error was that it "would drain the battery too much" and the phone disabled it. I tried reconnecting it several times and even restarted my phone, but I got the same error every time. If it doesn't work with the new iPhone, it's completely useless to me. Very disappointed and returning it immediately.

Works great for my old TVs. I couldn't track down a working older universal remote which had my model. This worked after just a couple tries of it testing for functionality.

It works, but the app isn't particularly great.

Did the trick nicely. Follow the instructions and install the right app on your phone. After that was quite easy to learn how to use

Difficult instructions

I have tons of cheap remotes for cheap lights and other devices around the house. All I want is to learn all that data, save it on my computer, and transmit it as needed so I don't need to keep track of a hundred remotes scattered around the house. I thought this cheap USB-C IR device would be the magic ticket. But when I plugged it into my Linux Mint, my firewall went crazy as the USB-chip attempted to create a virtual network for some strange (suspicious) reason. It seems this device is limited to two locked down applications and is not accessible by any open-source software (big red flag to me). As such, you are limited to two apps that I personally would never install on my phone (for testing I installed them on a virtual Android instance). You basically choose a device from a catalog of many devices and can use the app to transmit those codes. But that is not what I want. I want an open-source USB-c infrared receiver/transmitter so I can control all random devices around me. Not just the name-brand stuff! So, I'm returning this darn thing and getting something much more complicated that I consider overkill for my objectives. But that's the only option currently it seems.
