Review: very entertaining show - My sister had told me how much she liked this show. After getting season 1, I got hooked. I bought season 3 before season 2, as it was cheaper at the time. Cybil Sheppherd shows up as Shawn's mother in season 3. Shawn is actually incredibly observant and sees those little details (think Monk or the Mentalist) the rest of us miss (his father trained him). Shawn pretends to be psychic and helps the police department solve homicides, along with his best friend, Gus (great character). This DVD DOES have subtitles for the hearing impaired. Also, they talk REALLY fast so it is easy to miss dialog (even with subtitles). Several extras on this DVD set. Lots of laughs. This is a very entertaining show and I look forward to getting the other seasons.

Hilarious Family Fun
Psych is one of the only shows my whole family can enjoy (we range in age from 12 to 52). The show's language is clean (for the most part. I think the worst word they use is "DAMMIT") and the situations, while occasionally intense, are presented as realistically as possible. The witty writing, great acting (and great chemistry between the actors; you can't fake that!), wide range of genres covered, and case-of-the-week format mean you can jump in at any time and laugh yourself silly. At the same time, the season's main story arc (Shawn and Gus growing both as business partners & friends and bookend episodes with Shawn's high school sweetheart Abigail) tie everything together nicely. This DVD set has some amazing special features as well. The commentaries are definitely worth listening to, and don't miss the Psych-outs or gag reel either!

This so is so well made and there are so many little intricate things that make this such a great series with lots of rewatch value.

Love, love LOVE Psych
Love, love LOVE Psych.. am SO sad the show was discontinued.. James Roday and Dulรฉ Hill have better chemistry than any other set of actors I have ever seen. I would never believe it if someone told me they weren't friends from childhood in real life. :) Anyway, about the actual DVD set, it is very nice packaging and very inexpensive. The only complaint? The seasons were too short.. They should have had at least 30 episodes per season.. ;) I love this show..

Making the World a Better Place
This show is one of the greatest I have seen in awhile! Most shows on today seem to just be carbon copies of each other, and while some might consider this to be similar to the Mentalist, its humor and quirk just make it so much more than that (especially because Shawn takes that comparison head on). If you don't like hilarity, pharmaceuticals, obscure 80's references, or a cinnamon-loving crime-solving duo, then do not watch/buy this. Otherwise, do yourself a favor, and get this immediately. This season in particular tackles the employment dilemma for Gus, demonstrates yet again that Juliet is one tough cookie (at the Derby), and brings one of the beloved members of the Breakfast Club in for the season finale (which also leads to the season finales for the next two seasons).

Psych: The Complete Third Season
I actually like the show. It is kind of different and it grew on me when I watched it on ION when they played it over and over but then they stopped it and I was actually looking forward to it being on. I went ahead and bought the first 2 seasons when they were selling for 12.95 at the time. I then bought 3 & 4 season a couple weeks later & they were 8.95. I now want to purchase 5 & 6 but it is now 20 bucks. I will wait until they come down again before I buy 5 & 6. All in all...I would recommend these to someone who wants something different in the comedic and quick witted line of a show.

Attention!!!

Season 3 is when Psych really hits its stride. S 1 & 2 are great, but now it really gets going. The characters get more layered and the cast chemistry jumps off the screen. It's amazing how they revv up the tension and darkness in episodes like "Gus Walks Into A Bank", "Bad Bad Thing" and the nail-biting finale without losing the light tone. The writing is tight, witty, fast-paced and the improv fresh and snappy. Season 3 is also when they really got going with the "genre" episodes and movie homages, like "Murder... Anyone?... Bueller?", the wonderfully goofy "Disco Didn't Die" and Roday's directing debut and homage to slasher films, "Tuesday the 17th" I love this show! My only disappointment with the DVD set is the bonus material. There are much fewer outtakes and commentaries than in the previous seasons! Calling the distributor's self promotion a "bonus feature" on disc 1 is taking the Mickey.

Not many people know but the great rip Lemmy Kilmister appeared is this rather boring series we dont know how he got mixed up with the guys from psych but he did ! There might be blood is the title of the episode quite rightly soo for Lemmy played Captain Dale a fisherman that looks more like a pirate ,if it wasn't for lemmy involvement i wouldn't never bought it , im glad i did my lemmy collection is getting closer to end concerning lemmy cameo roles in movies....

Laugh aloud fare, James Roday hilarious as Shawn the "psychic" and detective - professions chosen to annoy his control freak dad who was determined he become a cop. Always they have sparred, needling each other still a particular pleasure. Shawn's partner-in-crime is Gus (Dule Hill very funny) - both friends since childhood and never having really grown up. 16 episodes. Intriguing cases. Sparkling scripts. A cast with its characters by now all finely honed, the chemistry great. Guest stars include Cybill Shepherd, Alan Ruck, Gary Cole and - a real surprise - Jane Lynch (Sue from "Glee"). In Ep.6 she is at her most Sueish, Kisten Nelson as the precinct's chief convincingly her sister. Highlights abound: Ep.8 - the bank hold-up; Ep.11 - straightlaced cop Lassiter, of all people, suspected of murder; Ep.16 - suddenly the stakes higher, everything more serious. Many bonuses worth exploring - (perhaps too many involved in the excitable commentaries?) Throughout, much delights. (Gus' "main job", though, is overdue for attention - at present it one of the least convincing contrivances ever.) Forever inventive, the series goes from strength to strength. Recommended.
