The Complete Language of Herbs: A Definitive and Illustrated History

Bought for a relative who is recently getting into herbal remedies and growing her own plants. As mentioned in other reviews this is not a scientific text— but if you’re interested in the history of herb use, symbolism and beautiful illustrations, then this is for you. I can imagine this is a great gift for Wiccans and people interested in witchcraft as well due to its mentions of magic quite frequently.

Not a scientific book. Fraudulent title.

I compare quite a few different authors when it comes to herbalist books. Beautiful illustrations and really cool how they have a symbol chart to mark common characteristics like toxicity, medicinal, meanings ect. I still grab it to double check some of the properties of the herbs I'm using. Straight and simple writing but wouldn't rely entirely on the illustrations to forage, although pretty they don't always include important information. Always recommend reading multiple texts or look at multiple images before eating/making cosmetics.

My daughter and I very much in joy this fun book. The art work is beautiful and each section is informative.

It uses Latin name for ordering the plant, while provides common name too. It really saves time to find a particular plant with a little help of google search.
