Can’t believe that I lived without this for so long. Makes the best mash potatoes! No lumps!

This thing is AWESOME! No more using a potato smasher and then a whisk to get mashed potatoes, this thing is the only way to go. Just microwave potato(s) for 5-8 minutes (‘til a fork goes in easily), put the whole potato in the ‘basket’, smush it over a bowl and you’re left with the skin in the device and a bowl full of smushed potato, ready for milk & butter. Instead of cutting up a potato, boiling for 30 minutes then draining and then standing at the counter smashing & whipping (which is awful if you have a bad back), you can nuke a potato, smush it in this, and be eating mashed potatoes in 15 minutes from start to finish. It’s not the easiest thing to clean - there’s a lot of holes for potato to get stuck in - but it’s not that bad and it’s more than worth it for the benefits this provides.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this ricer. I was skeptical at first (as I consider myself an expert on mashed potatoes), but this was perfect. I will never use my hand held masher (or mixer) again to make mashed potatoes. The texture of the mashed potatoes was the smoothest I have even gotten. It was easy to use but you will need to make sure that you cut larger pieces when boiling potatoes, as that makes it easier to transfer into the ricer. There were zero clumps and the texture was SMOOTH!!! If you’re like me and you read every review, know that I’m the same and I have used this masher on multiple occasions. It holds up nicely and is really easy to clean. Now, it is a bulky item so you will need a deeper drawer in which to store it between uses.

As expected

I am so happy I decided to purchase the Vita Saggia Stainless Steel Potato Ricer and Masher. This ricer has made making mashed potatoes so much easier. I rice the potatoes into a warm bowl, add warm cream and butter before using my hand mixer to mix it all together. The mashed potatoes are so creamy. I am in charge of the mashed potatoes at family gatherings. The extra large capacity cup enables me to rice/mash a 5# bag of potatoes in no time. You can't go wrong, only if you wait too long to order it or don't order it at all!!

I had a recipe which stated - "use a ricer" for the potatoes. Looked in stores near me, they only had 1-2 models. So, here on Amazon, many models, many reviews. Never having used a ricer, I decided on this one for the good reviews & what looked like a well-made model. It is - but I found it's probably just as easier to my food processor or grater, or just mash the potatoes. They did come out very smooth, etc. but the effort needed to push the potatoes through the ricer was hard. Not sure if another model would be as difficult to use. And you can only put so much potato in the container at a time, which meant more work. I found that the distance between the handles was a bit much for me also. I'll probably use it but not as often as I had thought.

I bought this Ricer to make my mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving, but I love it so much I use it everytime to make mashed potatoes! I also riced my sweet potatoes and they were velvety smooth and light as a mousse! The handle is long and easy to press even with a full receptacle of potato. It's AMAZING what a difference it makes in my mashed potatoes texture! Easy to clean too, I just wash in warm soapy water and let it dry. Diswasher safe as well! This ricer is PERFECT!! So happy with it and so affordable!
