New to fermentation? This one is for you!
Great book! Cannot wait to get stuck in - relaxed way of writing and just makes you want to get on with trying all sorts of ferments. Recipes look good - haven’t tried any but have bookmarked a few.

So glad I got it!
The guys who wrote this are SO FUN! They have a really fun sense of humor that comes through the pages, you really get a sense that these are two fermentation nerds who are trying to spread the love. I just wanted to say that first because it really makes it different from the other fermentation books I had to choose from. I've looked deeply at a few others and was a little put off by their very serious style of writing, and it seemed like they had a lot to say and few recipes to provide (at least ones that I would actually make). Also, the graphic design of Fermentation Revolution is really happy and fun, the photos are great. Anyway, I felt they provided a thorough and concise explanation of various fermentation processes. They had some stories of their own fermentation successes and failures, which were educational and fun to read. I also picked this book because it seemed to have all the fermentation recipes I wanted and some that I aspire to. Other fermentation books seemed to be more specific, for instance - only vegetables. I wanted recipes for kimchi, pickles, sauerkraut, and ginger beer, but I wanted to learn more about kombucha, kefir, sourdough, naan to see if I would be interested in making them in the future, and they are included too (and obviously much more). I've already got kimchi and ginger bug fermenting. I can't believe how good the ginger bug smells, like it smells so fresh and the real deal. The ginger bug and beer recipes actually seem the simplest of the ones I've reviewed online. This book's recipe is just ginger, water and sugar, but I've gathered other recipes use rice or yeast, which I'm not interested in (I'm a minimalist). Overall, I'm super happy I've purchased it, it fits all my fermentation interests, and the humor and happy graphic design are a huge bonus :)

fantastic home project!
I've been fermenting my way through this book for several months, and it rapidly became my most used recipe book in the house! I love the challenge, the smells, even my kombucha mother and i have been getting acquainted (we're on our third batch of tea!). The guys who wrote this book really went into a significant amount of detail about what should be happening, how to maximise success, and what that success should or should not smell like through the process. There are chapters in the beginning about the history of fermenting, the different types of yeast, bacteria and fungus that are utilized in the preservation and aided bioavailability, and the modern implementations of such timeless techniques. This is truly the perfect book for average people like me who have no idea how to make things like sauerkraut out kombucha, but are dying to learn!
