Sommerfeld's Easy Mark Hardware Drilling Jig EZM

Did not give it five stars only because it’s almost impossible to drill doors without taking them off. Otherwise works very good on drawers.And the best part it’s made in USA. I was not disappointed.

This jig is great! I used it to put handles on cabinet doors. This is the only Sommerfeld's tool I own, but I would happily get another if the need arises. The jig includes a long drill-bit for making holes for handles. It is a little bit wonky if you are doing like I did, and try to make a pair of holes vertically on a thin (2 inch wide) stile on a cabinet door. However being careful and using a spring clamp to hold the jig to the door without using the stop-bolt will suffice nicely.It is a little expensive, but it is a purpose-built specialty tool, and is extremely good at what it does. It saved me quite a lot of time over measuring out by hand, and the drill collars make sure that you are drilling straight. This tool makes it very difficult to mess up drilling handle holes, which is something that can be a pain (and very easy to mess up) when doing free-hand.I haven't had a project yet where I am able to use the stopping bolt to set a piece once, and then repeat the same holes on another piece (or 10 pieces), but I can tell that it will scale to that very easily, after all, that's what it was designed to do.The plastic is solid, it does not feel flimsy at all. It is thick and sturdy, but not heavy. It is easy to hold in one hand and use the drill in another hand. It is a great addition to any woodworker's collection.

I definitely would not recommend this. It is great for drawers. But it is not versatile enough for doors. And it is not able to be broken down and easily stored. There are much better options out there I would not recommend this.

Loved the idea and helped, but didn't fit the handles I bought.

I had several new doors and drawers to drill hardware mounting holes in. Not wanting to mess up expensive cabinets, I felt this would give me the accuracy and ease I needed to ensure a great result. It performed flawlessly. If I were to make any recommendation to the designer of this tool, a place to hold the drill bit would be nice. That way I know I'll be able to find it the next time I need to use it. Thanks for a quality product!

This tool worked great for adding handles to our kitchen cabinets. I have 3-3/4" spacing on mine and just had to use a caliper to set equal distance between center line of tool to locating drill through bushings. The horizontal an vertical setting are extremely simply by the way they MFG deigned the scales. One you measure your drawer it was so easy to lock down the stop and jump to next drawer with precision. Highly recommended for a the do-it-yourselfer that wants to take pride in your work....

Same issue another customer had where it’s is defective! Jig won’t sit flat because one side has the numbers and the other doesn’t! This is too expensive for it to have such an odd flaw! Not happy!

This Jig rocks! Makes drilling knobs in drawers and doors a piece of cake. Took me 10-minutes with the directions and I was able to do my entire kitchen in less than an hour. It will drill all types of knobs as well. Two screw or one. This is one of those finds on Amazon I figured I'd buy with only a couple of reviews. I am very glad I did. Well worth the cost for precision drilling and speed.
