Every year we buy those cheap carving tools from the local store, and every year the same thing happens - they break under the pressure. So, this year, I am determined to do better. I got this set in hopes that it would be better quality than the standard store-bought set, and so far I will say - I'm impressed. The metal is not very bendy at all. In fact, each tool's metal is solid. The handles feel well made, and it takes a ton of pressure to even feel like you may bend the tools (but they don't bend). This set also comes with a nice little box to store them in as well. Normally, I wouldn't care about this because the tools wouldn't last more than one year, but I am excited to reuse these for years to come!

Unlike many sets of carving tools which come with patterns included these tools are unlikely to end up with bent or broken blades as you carve. The handles and blades on these are sturdier than the competition and you get a great selection of tools to work with making it easier to carve more complicated designs. I really enjoy working with these.

Not made for durability, but this set will work for a season or three. It has the assortment you need for your kids to destroy pumpkins in an artsy fashion.Will they last forever? No. I can tell you as a yearly carver of pumpkins, this is not a set that'll last forever. But it'll do the job while it does last.

I was really impressed with the quality. No problem meeting the strength test to carve a pumpkin. MUCH better than the plastic store bought kits.The only issue, the plastic case they came in was damaged and thrown out; replaced it with a zip bag.Highly recommend for consideration.

I got this set to do a little pumpkin carving, as well as turnip carving, as was done historically in Europe before pumpkins came over from the New World. It's got a wide variety of blades, that should be able to handle anything I carve, from thin lines and cuts, to thicker lines and gouges. I tried it on a section of watermelon rind and it worked quite well ( it's a bit early for pumpkins). While the tools don't feel quite as sturdy as I expected, they're still quite adequate for the job they'll do, and should last for several years. Good value.

My family loves carving complex, unique designs on our pumpkins each Halloween, yet our sets have always been cheap carving sets from a local box store. This 7 piece pumpkin carving set is fantastic! The plastic handles and metal tools are thick and durable. They won’t bend like the cheap tools that we have used before. They also come in a clear case with snaps so they can be easily cleaned and stored year after year. This is a fantastic buy for the price point!
