Works as expected - good replacement for the OEM version
When starting to set up a Nintendo WII that had been stored away for years, I found that the original sensor bar wasn't able to be found. Since the sensor is critical to using the WII, I needed to find a replacement. The Otakulicious Wireless Wii Sensor Bar works perfectly as a replacement for the original OEM sensor bar - with (in my opinion) a huge improvement. I found having a wireless sensor bar to be an improvement over having a wired version - no need to worry about fishing a wire through hard to reach places to get the sensor in position over the TV in the TV's shelving unit. There was no setup involved other than inserting the needed batteries. Batteries in - sensor bar switch used to turn it on - resulted in a working WII. Couldn't be easier.Well, maybe it could have been a little easier - there were were no instructions included with the product. A simple note on the product's box explaining that all that was needed was to insert the batteries and turn the unit on would have done away with my momentary panic of how to make it work. Since the original was connected to the WII via a cable, I assumed something would need to be done to sync the wireless sensor to the WII - but that assumption was NOT correct. Other than turning on the sensor, nothing needed to be done to get the sensor and the WII communicating with each other

Perfect replacement for the original light bar, even works with emulators
I have recently been getting into retro gaming (painful to call the Wii "retro"!), but needed a new light bar. After watching (and internally screaming about) YouTube videos wherein people were replacing their light bar with two candles, I decided instead to order the Otakulicious Wii Sensor Bar, and I'm very glad I did.Unlike the original Wii light bar, the Otakulicious version has a typical USB A plug, whereas the OEM had a smaller, non-standard connector. In all other ways, this light bar keeps up with or surpasses the original. What I like about the standard USB A plus is that it can be plugged into your TV, your PC, or any USB power adapter.Contrary to popular belief, the "sensor" bar isn't a sensor at all, and doesn't have to be plugged into the console directly. It only provides an infrared frame of reference for the Wii motes. This product also worked perfectly with the Dolphin emulator, for the aforementioned reasons. The sensor bar, like the original, comes with a molded plastic piece to raise it above your television, as well as a pre-cut section of double sided tape (think Command Strip) to adhere it to the top of your entertainment system.I highly recomment the Otakulicious Wii Sensor Bar for those looking to dive back into Nintendo Wii gaming, whether with the original console, or with an emulator.

Super simple, works great!
Grabbed this as I wanted to do some Wii and Wii U emulating on my PC, and this was the nicest and cheapest way to get a sensor bar. If you didn't know, the only thing the sensor bar has in it are a couple infrared leds, and the cable that goes to the console is literally just for power, so these wireless sensor bars are the same thing, just battery operated. Popped in batteries, turned it on, and I was up and running in to time! Thing feels decently built, and it's so simple I can't imagine it not lasting ages.

The wireless sensor bar works seamlessly with my Wii and Wii U. It's truly plug-and-play, making setup a breeze. The IR functionality check with a smartphone camera is a handy feature. The 5-meter range offers flexibility, and the 8ft cable length for charging ensures convenient placement. A perfect replacement or upgrade for any Wii gaming setup!

Simple design but gets the job done. Heats up during use though
I'm using my original Wii with a projector so that my kids can have a chance to experience some older Legend of Zelda games. The only downside with that setup is the sensor bar extending across the room in order to be in the front near the wall being projected on. Thankfully some genius found out that the light sensor bar doesn't need to be connected to the back of the wii, and it's only receiving power. This sensor bar takes 4 AAA batteries (even though the listing says it takes AA batteries). It also has a power button right in the middle for when you're not done playing to extend the life of those triple-As. Because the IR lights are invisible to the naked eye, it features a bright red LED right in the front (near the power button) to let you know that the bar is powered on. I am a little concerned that the sides where the IR emitters are located seem to get warm after some use. Being that it's only using 4 AAA batteries I don't think there is any cause for concern about it combusting. But it does make me question its efficiency, If this starts to breeze through batteries then honestly I would rather not use it.Since playing on 720p game a projector is not the best in terms of graphic fidelity, I think that red LED is a little bright and could probably be slightly less bright and still get its point across, but it doesn't detract too much and i plan on putting some electrical tape to cut that down some. I don't know why I waited so long to get a wireless sensor bar... it's so much more convenient!

USB version works out of the box
All a Wiimote needs for pointer controls is an infrared light because the Wiimote is the receiver, and the only thing a "sensor" bar needs to do is provide light so that the Wiimote can orient itself. If you take a picture of the bar with a cellphone camera you'll see the infrared lights, which means its working. If you're trying to use this with a Wii emulator, the challenging part will be getting your computer to recognize the Wiimote's bluetooth signal. Any difficulties with that have nothing to do with this device. It does exactly what it's supposed to do.
