Q: Is this considered a jazz mouthpiece?

Depends on how you play and what you consider Jazz. This piece favors the low end of the horn and has a beefy yet clear tone. It is not as easy to play altissimo notes, for that the Rico Metalite is a better and a bit more of a screamer, but it does not facilitate the low notes as well. I have both and use them for different situations. I also have a Graftonite that I have extended the shank on to fit my ninety six year old Conn bari that I usually gig with when performing rock and soul. There are certainly better mouthpieces available but the Rico's are both well made, easy to play and cheap!
