Jamie Oliver 5 Piece Professional Beech Knife Block Set - Includes paring, utility, chef's, carving and bread knives with black handles, in a wooden block

After reading that the wooden block was very big, I was a bit dubious as to where it was going to live. But on receiving it, it worked really well. The wooden block is tall but not that long or wide and what a beautiful piece of wood it is and very heavy (as it should be). The knives are wow - everything i expected and more. Lovely to handle, the grip is just right and the knives extremely sharp. Brilliant value for money. I also bought the stay sharp knife tool - which keeps the knives in top condition. The most money i've ever spent on knives - and they're worth every penny. Wished I'd bought them years ago.

Had a few knives blocks these are the best by far so if you are wanting excellent block of knives at a great price which are very sharp and well balanced then these are the one's to get.

Finally decided to replace our old and blunt knives and since I have started being a wizard in the kitchen recently I though I should invest in some good quality knives. After a lot of research I settled for these. I liked the look of the wooden block and the whole look. Also was impressed by previous reviews and the price at the time of purchase. When I tried them for the first time they were great, slicing through potatoes, butternut squash, turnips, etc like going through butter. My comparison may only be with older non-professional knives but these really are great. very happy and hope they will last for a while. the only snag was that one of the knives had a tiny chip on its blade but a replacement has been arranged by the seller so hopefully that will arrive soon after which my satisfaction with these will return to 100%

These knives were a Christmas present so have only had limited use so far, but first impressions are that the knives are of excellent quality. They are all super sharp and make cutting everything from vegetables, meat, bread, etc very easy. The knives are nicely weighted and feel good quality in the hand. The wooden holder is quite stylish and solid.

I have had this knife set for a couple of years now so it has been well and truly tested. I can now confirm that Mr Oliver has produced the goods this time. The knives are well constructed and look more expensive than they are. They feel good in the hand and make chopping a pleasure. I have used these solidly for a good few years now and there is no sign of wear on them or the block. One thing to consider though is that as the knives are held vertically in the block they don't fit under the wall cabinets above my worksurface so end up occupying a section of worktop in front of the cabinet. They are also not as easy to retrieve as if the block had been angled to 45 degrees, especially I imagine for shorter people. However the cool design offsets any practical limitations.

This knife block set had already been trialled in a holiday rental this summer (high class rental!) and as a result of the superlative praise heaped upon it every time he used one of the knives, I decided to buy it for my husband's birthday. He was surprised and delighted and we have not been disappointed and - as with the best of presents - it's one we both enjoy. The knives are very, very sharp - took me a while and several plasters before I mastered quite how sharp - but they are a joy to use. The block itself is sleek and attractive so looks great and doesn't take up too much room on the work top. Highly recommend this item!

My newly married, youngest daughter requested "a set of knives that actually stay sharp for more than a couple of months", as part of her Christmas gift. Researching various products, I was very impressed with the reviews for this product and decided that these might fit the bill. My daughter is absolutely thrilled with these knives and says that they just slide through everything. I have never known her so enthusiastic about anything domestic. Even her hubby says these knives are really good. These may not be good enough for a professional cook, bearing in mind the amount of use they would be put to, but they are certainly excellent for we lesser mortals. Can't wait to get my own set.

My son bought these for his sister as a house warming present which she loved, I have used them a few times and they are so nice very comfortable to use. The wooden block is solid. I ended up buying myself a set.

Very good set of knives, in fact the best that I have purchased in my fifty years of marriage. So sharp and the knife block is also very nice

Un must! Livré avec plusieurs jours d'avance par rapport à la date prévue. Le bloc en bois est très solide, se maintient facilement sur un plan de travail.

Amazon hat sehr schnell innerhalb von 2 Tagen geliefert. Das Paket war sehr schwer, was mich zunächst einmal erstaunt hat. Des Rätsels Lösung war der schwere, sehr solide Messerblock aus Holz ( 2 Kg ), der auch sehr standfest ist. Die Verarbeitung des Messerblockes sowie der Messer ist in der Preisklasse überraschend gut. Die Messer liegen tatsächlich wie in der Werbung angepriesen wunderbar ausgewogen in der Hand. Bei den Übergängen Metall-Kunststoffgriff wurde sauber gearbeitet. Der Messerblock ist ebenso sauber gearbeitet. Die Messer selber sind superscharf, hier ist konzentriertes arbeiten erforderlich, daher man sollte schon wissen, wo sich gerade die Finger aufhalten. Durch Kartoffeln und Kohlrabi gehen sie durch wie weiche Butter. Die Schnittflächen sind sehr sauber. Beim Bäcker kaufe ich das Brot jetzt immer ungeschnitten. Das Brotmesser macht viel Freude. Am Griffende ist noch einmal vermerkt, für was welches Messer ist, aber das hat man schnell heraus. Zwei kleines Mankos: Da das Griffende auch aus Metall ist, stört mich am Anfang ein wenig das kalte Gefühl in der Handinnenfläche, was aber keinen Punktabzug bedeutet. Ebenso könnten die Messerspitzen nach meinem Gefühl ein wenig exakter geschliffen sein, was aber auch vom Hersteller so gewollt sein könnte, mich stört es jedenfalls nicht. Die Messer der Mitbewerber in dieser Kategorie, welche ich auch kenne, sind teilweise schlechter verarbeitet und liegen preislich höher, daher auch hier kein Punktabzug. Dieser Messerblock mit den Messern ist eine Empfehlung. Was besseres wird man in dieser Preisklasse nicht finden und 25 Jahre Garantie sprechen für sich. Ich gebe ihn jedenfalls nicht mehr her, zumal er durch sein Design ein schöner Blickfang in der Küche ist.

Ich habe den Messerblock und die Messer, wie bei Amazon gewohnt extrem schnell bekommen. Die Messer sind gut ausgewogen und liegen gut in der Hand. Das Chefmesser ist seit dem im täglichen Einsatz und das Gemüsemesser auch. Leider gibt es zwei kleine Schönheitsfehler. Bei dem Gemüsemesser ist die Griffeinfassung nicht 100% passgenau, so dass eine kleine Ecke übersteht, die bei längerem Gebrauch in die Handinnnenfläche drückt. Der Messerblock selbst ist an der Vorderseite mit dem Jamie Oliver Logo verziehrt, hier ist wohl beim Verpacken oder auch schon früher mal etwas gegen gekommen. Der Messerblock hat hier einen Eindruck/Delle. Das ist beides nicht so schlimm, so dass ich die Ware so wie bekommen behalten habe. Was aber richtig nervt: ! Der Messerblock hat unten 4 kleine Kunststoff-Füße, damit er die Arbeitsplatte nicht zerkratzt. Wir haben eine Buchenarbeitsplatte. Wenn wir den Messerblock über die Arbeitsplatte schieben/rücken bleiben schwarze Streifen, wie "Reifenspuren/Bremsspuren" auf dem Holz zurück, die extrem schwierig zu beseitigen sind. Hier sollte der Hersteller doch evtl. farblose Kunstofffüsse unter den Block bauen. Ansonsten haben wir viel "Spaß" mit den Geräten. Die Messer sind alle scharf, handlich und bis auf das Gemüsemesser sehr gut verarbeitet.
