Perfect for dog walks, DIY jobs, and astro-photography! Improved my old favorite!
Updated version of the old NITECORE NU32. Added type C charging, battery indicator, better mode selection, better LEDs, better buttons, better charging port cover. I bought a second one so I always have one in my bag and one at the house. The new knurling and size difference of the buttons makes a huge difference. Especially when wearing gloves. I never press the wrong button anymore! The high CRI flood mode is perfect for working on stuff up close or for walking a puppy at night that loves to eat rocks. Doesn't throw light far, so I don't feel like I'm shinning light into someone's house at 2am. And it's easy to switch into the main light to check the big field for any cats, raccoons or skunks. The red light is great for setting up my star tracker and camera with out wrecking my night vision. It is not the brightest headlamp with miles of throw. But it has great battery life and way more versatility than an obnoxiously bright, throwy, heavy headlamp that eats batteries. Some people do need that. But I'm glad this isn't one of those.I was bummed when my old favorite got discontinued. But this just improves on the old light in every way without sacrificing anything. I might buy a third one... It is so rare for a company to discontinue an old favorite, actually improve the new version while retaining all the old features and not jack up the price. This is ~$5 more than the old one. But it's just simply better and has more things. That's not a money grab by Nitecore. 10/10!

Nitecore NU32- A Wompus Kitty Bright Headlamp
First, my one and only negative, is that this light has two buttons, one for white light and one for red light. This is not really a negative on the light but on me as I've had to retrain myself for using a two button light. Actually, it may be a positive as having two buttons will allow both white and red lights to be activated simultaneously. As for the positives, there are several that I like. Firstly, The super bright 550 lumen function is GREAT, especially while walking down a very dark country road in the area where I live. I usually walk early in morning before daylight. Not much traffic, if any, but there are occasionally wild animals. This function is activated by a long press of the white light button from any brightness setting, while in the white light mode.Secondly, the flashing red function (on the second press of the red light control) is good for one to be seen by on coming drivers and others. It would also be an excellent signal if, by chance, one became lost in a forest!Thirdly, the material of the headband seems to be top notch and extra thick. One does need to install the headband oneself but this is no big deal other making one think about the process some. We can all use a little more brain exercise right! I have some other popular brand headlamps that the the elastic has stretched out and are now basically unusable as a headlamp. Though the lights themselves still function well. I suppose one can hold it in ones hand like a regular flashlight but that is not why one buys a headlamp, is it!Lastly, overall, this headlamp seems to be well made and durable. Don't forget it is waterproof and shock resistant as well! This is a great headlamp. If you are shopping for a headlamp, then buy yours today!

Great headlamp, decent price.
My first real headlamp, nice and bright, plenty of settings, the battery life specs are a little overrated by the manufacturer but still adequate for an 8 hour shift using it between medium and high settings. My initial rough estimate on high setting is around 5 or 6 hours, looks like the only possible weak spot is the pivot adjustment detents. I'm guessing they will wear out over time and not hold. Other than that it's a nice light and way better than any other brand at this price point. Edit- After almost 2 years the little rubber charging port cover ripped off but the adjustment detents on the pivots are still going strong. It was always hard to get the rubber plug into the port after charging, literally the only weak design pont on this thing is that little rubber plug. Keep in mind i wear this on my hard hat and it gets covered in grease, oil and slop quite often. I've bashed it so hard multiple times that i was sure it would be broken but not even a crack. If and when it ever dies I'll buy the exact model for sure. I own 3 different nitecore lights and they're all winners.

Great light...4 years later . Highly recommend!
coming up on 4 years of ownership. this light has been excellent! primarily used indoors for hobby type projects like RC cars or electronics..or even cleaning nooks n crannies like the bathroom (you'll be disgusted at what you find)!i dont use this everyday, but probably a couple times a week for quick things...if for nothing else cutting my toenails lol. theres times ive worn it for hours too and was comfortable. almost never use the low light settings... almost always the high and medium output (500/200). it holds a charge for a long time. theres times i didnt use it for a month or so... plugged it in to top it off and 5-10 minutes later it maxes out.Cons:my only complaints are the old usb style plug it uses, charge time, and now recently the elastic headband is pretty much stretched out so i need to replace that with something since the light is still going strong.
