The perfect diary? It certainly seems to be.
Repeat purchase. Kind of…In the past, I’ve purchased the cousin techo version, the cousin avec from July to December (half way through the year), the original, the weeks, and now the original avec. I think the original avec is going to be the one that works for me the best at this moment but they are all wonderful.I found the cousin was amazing, and was perfect when I was working because I could use one part for work and the other part for personal. I no longer need that option or the size so have moved back to the original size. The original is a great size. It is small enough to fit in your back pocket (not that you’d want to do that). The page is divided up so you can write your schedule on one side and notes on the other should you wish to use it that way, but the writing is light enough that you could easily just write straight across the page. I like to mix it up and on slow days even add in a few little drawings. The paper is beautiful. I use a uni Jetstream multi pen 0.5 nib and it’s perfect for that. It also takes fountain pen well, but you’d need a very fine nib because the writing area is very small. In my first original I even did some water colours - it wrinkles the paper a little but that’s part of the charm. You can see through the page to writing on the other side because the paper is thin but it doesn’t interfere with it at all and once both sides are written you barely notice it (perhaps I am used to it now). The books are not cheap and I’ve found myself trying out other diaries in the past, to try and save a few pennies, but I always come back to Hobonichi Techo - even half way through the year in one case!I think the original avec is the perfect one for me due to its size, the amazing paper which is so lovely to write on and the different sections, all of which I use.The avec fits well into my Original cover - the yellow one slots in the LHS and the blue one slots in the RHS - or you could just use them one at a time. At the moment I am using them in my Hobonichi pouch, they fit perfectly and there’s some room for pens etc too.Would I recommend this? - absolutely and without hesitation.
