Are these utensils glue-free, and why does that matter for toxicity?

Yes. Ziruma utensils are carved from a single piece of wood with no glues or joints. Many competitors use laminated wood bonded with adhesives that can contain formaldehyde or resins. Glue-free design reduces chemical exposure and improves durability

Are wooden utensils heat resistant for everyday cooking?

Yes. Solid wood naturally resists heat and will not melt or release toxins. Unlike plastic or silicone, wood stays stable during normal stovetop cooking and remains safe for daily use.

Can these wooden utensils be used with non-stick cookware?

Absolutely. The smooth wooden surface is gentle on non-stick coatings and won’t scratch pans. They’re safe to use with ceramic, and all non-stick cookware.

What finish is used on these wooden utensils, and is it non-toxic?

Ziruma utensils are finished with a cotton-based, food-safe lacquer. Unlike mineral oil or synthetic coatings, this finish contains no petroleum by-products and does not leach chemicals into food, creating a safer, truly non-toxic cooking surface.

How should I care for wooden utensils to make them last?

Hand wash with mild soap and warm water. Do not soak or use the dishwasher. Apply Ziruma wax periodically to nourish the wood and extend its lifespan.
