Color Your Own Great Horse Paintings (Dover Art Coloring Book) Paperback – February 18, 2010

I love coloring books, and I love horses. As an artist, I've always had a few favorite classic horse paintings - not all artists can render a horse properly. I ordered this hoping for at least one or two of my favorites - and every one of them is here, along with more that I hardly dared hope for. The drawings are well done and sufficently complex for an adult or older child to enjoy. The paintings chosen vary from Landseer to Remington with a few from the Far East thrown in as well. The only complaint (if it is one) is that Dover didn't include a CD-ROM of the coloring pages - so I sat down and scanned every one of them into my computer before starting to color. Now I can print out a new copy if I want to color one of my favorites over again.

Fun Book, better than expected. Small pictures of original art inside covers for reference. Will probably make my own color choices though. Some of the drawings not very accurate in small details but overall a nice choice for horse lovers. Some quite a bit of detail, others simpler. Something for all ages.

I'm a little too advanced for this level of thing... gave it to a little 7-year-old friend. She loved it, so all was not lost.

Great book!

I bought this for my 11 year old daughter as one of her birthday presents. What I liked was the fact that these are actual copies of famous horse paintings and inside it shows you how the originals were coloured. I think it is educational as well as fun for her as she is learning about artists while she colours!
