Does the slimline toilet seat have a solid feel to it, or is it plasticky?

Solid and easy to clean. Not cheap looking or flimsy in any way.

Can you fit this toilet to a downwards soil pipe in the floor?

Yes. I have. You may need a “flexible hose“pan connector. Around £10. The plumber used one on mine, even tho it was directly in line with the internal soil stack. But my husband used a rigid pan connector to the one downstairs in the same position. ( he said the plumber was doing it the easiest way for himself. )

Please can I double check that this is definitely a "comfort height" toilet eg 18" / 45cm seat height?

For a tall person it will be comfortable. Toilet is about 2" / 5 cm higher than the normal toilets.
