Men's Pit Boss 6 Inch Steel Safety Toe Industrial Work Boot

My son needed new work boots that are comfortable enough to wear during his long shifts doing electrical work. He has to have something flexible enough to bend as he's kneeling or crawling into small spaces, durable enoughto last more than a few months, non-slip and steel toed. These boots check all those boxes. These boots are very well made and do not hurt his feet. They are true to size and look nice, not that he cares what they look like at his work sites. I care that they offer foot protection and are durable.

I got 12w (2E) pitboss. I work in a machine shop that requires steel toe, first time spending more than 40 bucks on work boots. I get 12s in most boots for extra toe room and relief of a bunion on my left from a nasty fracture as a kid. Could probably be comfortable in 11.5 with this spacious steel toe if I had too, happy with my size choice though. Out of the box: I was concerned, they felt stiff in my hands and pulling the insole out revealed a foam thing that didn't seem to have the foot shape that I expected. Mmmm new shoe smell. I liked the laces, thin but strong feeling. The best part about the laces is how easily it was to take them out and thread them through. From the pictures on here I thought there were 3 things you wrap the laces around to tie them, there is actually two and the third ones down are a tighter hole that keeps the lower holes from getting too loose. Another awesome point is that the wrap around nub things at the top are polished and rounded which I can tell will help the laces from fraying and breaking at this spot like most of my previous boots. Walking in them doesn't feel like any "new" pair of boots I've had. The soles are curved in the right places. Arch feels supported and all together solid. I crouch down a lot, sort of sitting on my heels; everything felt fine and the leather didn't crack or fold in on itself like one would see in cheaper material. I plan to wear these for a month at work then updating. I am not gentle on footwear. Kicking metal and wood, tripping up on stuff and constantly crouching and getting low is daily. 30+ days later, photos added. These things are beast, interior is holding up better than any footwear I have ever owned. Exterior has taken some serious beatings without showing any significant damage. An 83 lb bar hit the front of my right foot from about 3 ft up and barely split a tear into the leather. Sole isn't showing any signs of separation from boot. Treads barely look used, my step counter averages 10k steps a day at work. I did put some new insoles in but that was because after a week or two the extra wide size I got started to let my feet move around too much for my liking. I will continue to buy the wider size though, with the insoles it took these to a whole new world of comfort. I love these things, I plan on buying these in the future. They have ruined other footwear for me I feel so spoiled. If you've read to this point what are you waiting for get a pair.

Wanted to buy a medium use work boot before all the tariffs hit and face it, unless you want to pay 3 or 4 Benjamin's, what you get is going to be imported. I had a pair of Timberland's from way back but they were a version with the sole that was secured with adhesive only. They are still good boots but the soles have come loose. I plan on fixing them with some shoe cement but in the meantime, wanted another pair for to have alternative and to have when the originals finally do wear out. Overall, it seems like a well made mid-level work boot. Goes on easy and laces up and ties well enough. With my limited use, it's going to take a while to break these in and I will actually have to get some fresh socks to pad me feet some until they do stretch out a bit. The one complaint, and it's a pretty significant one is that, these boots are running quite narrow in the toe area. I ordered an 11 Wide and that size fits me well in any other shoe / boot I have purchased. My toes feel squeezed in these and if I hadn't already worn and scuffed them, I would be tempted to return for a larger size but I am hopeful they will relax over time as I continue to wear them. I considered ordering an 11-1/2 but that would give my heel area too much room to waggle around and I really didn't want that. They are not too heavy and I haven't tested out the waterproof feature yet and probably won't for a while. I will update this review after a few months of wearing them to advise on how it fits after a period of break in.

I was really torn between these and the Gray Direct Attach Timberland Pros. These are heavier because have the Goodyear Welt. This is a must have for my boots. They were also on sale for $130 compared to the price of the DA TP ST at $160. I really like the Sturdy feel of these with the bottoms having hard rubber. This will hopefully last longer than Wedge sole on the Irish Setter Wingshooters. Irish Setters and Timberland Pros have always been the most comfortable and offer the best Protection. These are very comfortable and have a roomy Toe Box. Unfortunately they don’t come with the Timberland Pro Honeycomb Anti Fatigue insole. They come with a pretty thick foam AF Sole but it is not as good as the Honeycomb. I have already ordered on which was an additional 20$. I rubbed these down with some Mink Oil like I do all my boots before wearing. I really like the Honey Brown color that they are now. I got them for the lighter wheat look so when they dry I hope they lighten up. If they make these in the same Light Gray as the DA TPs I will buy them in a heartbeat. The Soles wear out on all the Irish Setters and Timberland Pros that I have Owned. I have had the Ashbys, Morabs, and Wingshooters by Irish Setters. For Timberlands I have had the Boondocks and their Composite Toe Work Shoes. I didn’t want to spend another $$180 to $250 on another pair of Irish Setters. I don’t want to pay $150 to get them Resoled when the Tops are worn out and stink. Timberlands are a great Value for the Price. These are an outstanding value for 130$. These would be perfect if they came with the HoneyComb AntiFatigue Insoles.

My son needed steel toe boots for work. They not only protect his feet but he likes the way they look. He is now interested in a version without steel toe due to the nice look of these boots.

Timberland sizing is always a mystery to me. Depends on the type of boots you buy from them, sizing are all over the map. For regular timberland classic boots I had to go down 1 full size to get a good fit without my heel slipping and excessive room in the toe box. That's what I was planning to go with before I bought this steel toe boot, thank god I read the reviews on them. 1. Sizing: For this boot, you really want to go to your normal true size. Now, everyone has a different opinion on what their true size is, the way I determined mine was that there is no heel slippage, and I have enough room in the toe box that my toes are not right up against the end of toe box. For most Nike/Adidas/Jordans, I am a size 10, and they typically fit me just as I described above. For this pair of timberland, I went with a size 10 with normal width. The fit was good, but not perfect. Due to the steel toe, the toe box are narrower, and shorter then typical Timberland, and since it's a work boot, the insole seems to be thicker and provide better support than regular Timberlands (i'm comparing it to Timberland classic 6 inch boot). All that translate to a smaller fit when compare to a Timberland classic 6 inch boot. So when I went true to size, it felt good. Only complain is that the heel of the boot is wider so I do have some heel slippage, but this was easily remedied by thicker socks or socks with heel padding. 2. comfort: I bought this mainly to work in a laboratory condition where there are heavy machinery, so I don't walk in them all day long. However, I did notice that the support was excellent and my feet ain't tired at end of the day despite the fact that this pair of boots is HEAVY! 3. lacing: I like to provide some comment on lacing. It's hard to to tie this pair of boot up "snug." What I do I mean by snug? Well, typically when I lace up a boot, I like to make sure I felt a little bit of pressure from lacing it up from the top of my foot up to where I tie a knot. However, because of the steel toe and it being a very stiff boot, I can hardly feel any pressure on top of my foot when I lace it up. But since my foot isn't moving around in the boot, I was ok with it. You can lace the top of the boot tight once you get past your ankle though, the top of the boots does have more give to them where you can lace it up tight if needed. 4. Overall: Great boot, on the heavy side, but provided great support. Durability review will come later.

As normal these boots took a bit to break in, which was to be expected. However the heel on the inside of the boot has left significant calluses after 5 months of use. They do not breathe well, and definitely hold moisture. Aswell as seems begining to reiterate and tear along the steel toe line. These would probably be fine for those needing a solid boot on occasion, but not for every day use in the weather like I had hoped.

Been wearing these boots for about a week straight now and I'm quite pleased thus far. The construction seems solid and I did not have any of the poor stitching noted by a few other reviewers. I typically wear a 9&1/2 but decided, based on a few reviews, that I would go 1/2 size down (that was also partly because they only had size 9...) but I'm glad I did. They were indeed quite tight at first, and with the steel toe they don't provide much wiggle room, however, after wearing them anyways for about 6 hours the sole packed in just enough to provide a comfy fit. They are snug, but in a comfortable way. For that reason I would say they do fit as described, but consider a 1/2 size down if available if you are on the edge in trying to decide. As far as comfort, they are indeed very rigid and stiff when you first get them, I think mine may have been a floor model or something because my left boot was reasonably softer and had very very minor signs of wear. Either way, after about 3 days of wear they feel pretty good. I will also note that, if you go from wearing soft shoes and throw these on then they will still feel stiff and almost uncomfortable for a couple minutes, but then they feel fine. (I go from a desk job to a mechanic so when I change from loafers to these boots they feel like I'm wearing cinder blocks until I adjust). I also only lace them halfway, this gives me much more flex in my ankles (since I crouch alot), it also allows me to slip the boots easily on and off without tying laces each time and they still stay tight on my feet, this does make the laces really long though and I have to tie up a ball of laces to keep it from dragging. As far as the looks go, they are not that important to me, but if they are to you then know that the pictures are a little deceiving in that the boot has a much taller profile with a much bulkier toe then they appear online. The picture makes them look more like a shoe or an urban walking boot and in reality it isn't. Its a thick bulky work boot with a tall sole and rounded toe, and they are fairly heavy, I like the way they look, but it is different than the pictures in some ways. Overall I am impressed, I hope to avoid the reports of the sole separating from the shoe, but I don't expect it to be a problem. I am hard on my boots, but I also realize that mechanic work is much less demanding on footwear than some other professions, my biggest concern is fluids and slip resistance, which these seem to handle well.
