Honeywell Palm Island 52 Inch Tropical Indoor Outdoor Ceiling Fan

This 52-inch ceiling fan is an excellent choice for any medium-sized room, delivering powerful and refreshing airflow thanks to its stylish palm-leaf blades and optimal 12-degree pitch. After purchasing three of these fans, I can confidently say they all perform exceptionally well. The sturdy, all-weather ABS construction ensures long-lasting durability, while multiple mounting options provide versatility for different spaces. I found installation and operation straightforward with the intuitive three-speed pull chain. The reversible motor allows for year-round comfort, and I highly recommend this ceiling fan.

The first fan from a different manufacturer had to be returned. My husband and I are serious DIY-ers, and can get most things to work. But those instructions were absolutely terrible and the parts were not aligning with the pictures. This Honeywell fan was a breeze (pun intended) to set up! Very clear instructions. All the parts labeled correctly. Can be done by one person. Just lay all the parts out…read the instructions completely…maybe even twice….and then put it together and hang it on the ceiling! If using a fan speed switch on an outlet, it must be rated for fans. It cannot be a sliding dimmer type switch, but must be a a switch specifically for fans, where the speed lever actually “clicks” between speed settings. The detail web page just says “no dimmer switch”, but a phone call to Honeywell clarified what a fan-rated switch was, which is what we have in our 24 year old house. Highly recommend!

My husband did the installation. Based on the number of expletives he used during the process , I'm going to guess the install was 3 stars. As far as functionality and style, I give this a 5 out of 5. It's very quiet - and circulates the air without the awful downdraft that I hate in most fans. (Really... I don't want hair blowing in my face like I'm on a jet ski). I did not order the remote - so can't rate that. The pull chain is better for me. (one less remote to keep track of). I ordered the darker color, and was very happy with the way it compliments my furniture. The size is perfect for a cozy lanai - would also work well in a tiki bar. For the price, this little fan is a great buy. Highly recommend.

The Honeywell Palm Island has many things to commend it. It is certified for outside use. It is handsome. It goes up quickly and easily. It is quiet. What about the complaints that it moves little air? That'd be a killer if true. When I first turned mine on I reacted similarly to some others here. It was a cool, still, morning and I should have felt some serious cooling standing under it -- yet I didn't. Oh no! Then I turned it down low and took note of the blades and their direction of rotation. No wonder! They were moving the air upward. Sliding the side switch downward I turned the fan on again. Ah! What a difference! Not a blast of air, mind you. Ceiling fans in my experience never create such. But a nice gentle cooling breeze -- just what I'd want sitting under it on the porch on a hot, still, afternoon. I gave the fan a four star rating because I suppose that high speed on a four speed fan could be a bit higher -- or the blades designed to move a bit more allowing the use of lower speeds for less cooling. But for my own use and expectation I think that this one concern really will not prove to be so. And the fan's quiet is likely part and parcel with that design limitation. Bottom line is that my initial feelings are very positive and I DO recommend the unit. Now for that first really hot Summer day...

I was reluctant to order this fan because of all the negative reviews about it not moving air. I ignored those reviews, purchased and installed this fan on an outdoor gazebo. To my disappointment, the fan was barely moving any air even on the highest setting! I made sure the fan was not in reverse mode but, it still didn’t help. I was very close to uninstalling and returning the fan. To make a long story short, I figured out the directions I followed in the instructions had me put the fan blades on upside down. The fan blades are not reversible on this fan so you must make sure the Palm design is facing down as shown on the packaging (The instructions will have you install them upside down!) If you are one of the unhappy owners of this fan unsatisfied with the air movement, simply flip the blades over and thank me later. 😊

It’s been working well and looks good

The good. We like the look, and the quality for the price. We bought the house two years ago and added recessed lighting, and eliminated the original light location. My wife wanted a fan. We have a small kitchen so I was able to relocate the fan to help cool the area during the summer when the AC is on or off, and move warm air during winter. The Bad we have 8 ft ceilings in the house and this fan advertising can be a bit misleading. All the fans I installed in the house are flush type. When installed they drop down from 10.5-12” leaving 7ft clearance from the floor. All good when walking under the fan. So once I opened the new fan reading the mounting options flush mounting was not one of the options available. So I broke out the tape measure and reviewed my acceptable elevation options. See attached pictures I cut the down rod 2” re- drilled the pin hole and mounted it up. This helped tremendously instead of the factory 14.3”. I was able to reduce it to 12.3” now it’s much closer to a flush mount like my other fans. Hope this helps if you have the skill set. Not difficult i am surprised the fan manufacturer does not have different down rod options included in the box

We had it installed under the pergola in our garden. We cannot use the maximum speed as it is cery noisy and lower settings do not really produce much breeze. Quite disappointed with this product.

This fan has great aesthetics. it was very easy to install and runs very well and very quiet. I would recommend this to my friends.
