Very good laptop
Vey pleased with this laptop. Build quality excellent, although a bit on the heavy side. Battery life very good, startup fast but not as fast as others say.I use it mainly for work purposes, good at multitasking, Sage/Word/Excel/Email in constant use with no effort.Keyboard really good. Sound reasonable for a laptop.I have had about 8 laptops and this is the best. For the price fantastic - I looked around and couldn't find anything coming close for the price.

A Technicians Review!
I'm a computer technician - so I work on alot of customer computers and laptops. One thing I find is that most customer computers are sluggish because they buy cheap not understanding or caring about the spec of their computers. I ALWAYS advise people to spend as much as they can afford because laptops are not upgradeable apart from RAM (sometimes). The cheap slow laptops come slow out of the box - very frustrating. The end result is customers call me to speed up their computers all the time so I know a thing or too about sluggish computers / laptops.I needed a replacement laptop as my 8 year old HP laptop has been handed down to my children. I've always liked HP. I wanted something portable so 17" laptop was too big. I also wanted a laptop as high end as I could afford because laptops are not upgradeable and i don't like sluggish computers. I would have liked an Apple Mac Book Pro but I wasn't going to spend £1500-£2000 on a laptop. I didn't have an open cheque book so price was important. I came very close to buying the new ASUS Red A53E-SX1339S 15.6" Laptop - from PC World for £599. Then I saw a better spec HP Pavilion dv6-6c12sa at Staples for £650 and bought that although I really wanted a laptop with an i7 CPU rather than AMD. CPU's are very important! I came home and searched the internet to find a better DV6 model - HP Pavilion dv6-6c56ea for same price on Amazon so I bought that one and returned the other DV6 laptop to Staples unopened. So here I am typing away on my new HP i7 laptop. So far I'm very happy with it. Keyboard is easy to use. Nice screen. It's super fast for a laptop and with further tweaks here and there and replace the bloated Norton Internet Security with MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) - this laptop probably rivals Apple for every day performace. This laptop is a great buy for the spec vs price. As a technician in the industry, I highly recommend this laptop! If you don't like slow buy better to start with is my advise and this laptop is highly recommended.14/4/12 UpdateSince owning this laptop for a few weeks as my backup laptop I've had chance to get to know it better. Battery life does not last anywhere near 6 hours when set to high performance. Unless you set to high performance it can feel a bit sluggish, power is everything! Love the cool metal chasis. Lighter and less bulky than my last ZV6179ea HP Pavilion laptop! When converting my owned DVD's for my iPad it really comes into its own for speed beating my Quad Core PC for performance. Remember, the slower your computer the more you have to wait for everything!! USB 3.0 sockets work fine!

beats audio....dont bother
Laptop overall is ok, but the sound on the laptop is absolutely terrible, when its working its tinney and lifeless and constantly distorts and breaks up.

Don't buy this product
Its very heavy. Battery Life is not as expected. Screen resolution is not that good. Power Card almost weighs 950 gms. Totally I disappointed with this product.

Not To Spec?
If you buy one of these check to see if you have the specified 2 x USB3 ports. Mine had 4 USB2s and no USB3s, HP confirmed it was incorrectly built. Otherwise great machine.

Excellent laptop with an amazing spec for the money
Having used this laptop (my third HP DV laptop) for a week or so now I can say that so far I am very satisfied. The build quality is very good with a lot more metal used it the construction than many of its competitors. I also use a 13 inch Macbook Pro so I know all about Mac build quality, and I would say that this HP machine, whilst not being hewn from a solid block of aluminium, stacks up pretty well against the Apple. The brushed alumnium finish looks very smart. Size-wise it is more compact than my previous HP DV5 and has a full size keyboard that the DV5 lacked. Its also quite a bit lighter than the DV5.The screen is very good, although I can't say yet what movies look like as I haven't viewed any on this machine. The keyboard is well laid out and very easy and comfortable to use.Perhaps the main reason I chose this laptop over one of its many competitors was its amazing specification. Getting an i7 processor, 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive for the price was exceptional. I couldn't find anything else anywhere near that spec for the same money and there appear to be other HP DV6 machines costing quite a lot more, with a poorer spec (the bewildering way in which HP configures its range of laptops has always confused me greatly). Getting a 15 inch Apple laptop with this spec would cost about three times the price.I am hoping that this machine will be trouble free as I have had problems with previous HP machines (my first DV5 had a serious case of the infamous 'blue screen of death' and had to go back to HP many times before it was eventually replaced). I am therefore considering buying an extended warranty.

HP Laptop
I bought the HP laptop with i7 intel with 8gb ram,1TB HDD and 1GB graphics card as it as it all, firstly i ordered this laptop early on friday and paid £7.99 for next day delivery before 1pm, However the delivery never happened after waiting in all morning on the saturday, after making calls to amazon i was assured it had been sent, so on monday i phoned citilink and it arrived 9,30am monday morning, better late than never. I would like to say this was not down to amazon but citilink,Since i have had this laptop i must say im very pleased with it unlike the buyer who bought similar machine with AMD quad core,I have done many tasks including Burning CD/DVD and streaming movies and done with ease, the one thing i will say is watch out if looking at the images of this laptop on amazon as it shows in its images of blu ray drive even though it dont decribe it in its listing as having a blu ray drive, i just assumed from images they show that it had one. Overall very pleased.
