Last Laughs: Animal Epitaphs

Funny Poetry and Even Funnier Illustrations
This book really appealed to my 8-year-old son, who enjoys reading about zombies and monsters, and other disgusting stuff (I mean that in a good way). I think this was his first introduction to dark comedy, and he loves it. The illustrations are filled with nice little details, and I can give a book no higher praise than to say that it inspired him to run off and write his own "animal epitaphs."

and she loved the book so much
My 6-year-old daughter wanted me to check this out of the library, so I did, and she loved the book so much, I bought it. She thinks it's hysterical. She likes the wordplay, and is learning from it. I, on the other hand, think it's quite morbid, and find many of the illustrations really creepy. Oh, well. I'm giving it a 4 since it's such a hit with her.

Cute
This is great for someone who likes dinosaurs and is a little more morbid. It works great as a mentor text to get kids to write their own epitaph as well.

Disturbing content
Unless your child is Wednesday Addams this book belongs in the trash. I was expecting something along the lines of the skunk epitaph on the back cover, more clever than the truly macabre. This book is full of animals violently meeting their demise or slowly suffering to their death. Definitely not a good choice for animal lovers, sensitive adults, or children.

Beware for young readers
Very funny epitaphs for various animals. Great for teenagers, but beware for young readers.

Love the book it's hilarious however, the copy I received had stickers on it from the Columbus Metropolitan Library...I feel like I was just sold a 15$ library book, kinda seems weird!
