Got it for my cat, medical need temporarily.
I bought this Beechnut chicken baby food because it only had broth with the chicken. I've actually bought it for my cat when he had diarrhea. He absolutely loved it, and wouldn't eat rice at all. I didn't have to worry about something added like onion or garlic, which is bad for pets. I plan to recommend it to my son and daughter-in-law who had a baby five months ago.

Yum
I have a senior cat that needs fattening up. She loves this! Great value. Great flavor.

Thin liquid, not thick
I tried this for my senior dog as she has become very picky but she'll eat human food without issue. The ingredients are pure so I didn't have to worry about making her ill. The smell is horrible but other brands with meat baby food smell just as bad. I expected it to be thicker like another brand's version of this but it's not. This is pure liquid. You can thicken it up with a little cornstarch if needed. I mix it with a fruit/veggie puree and my dog eats it. This was a good price for what you get.

Food poisoning risk. Watery, grainy, but less fat than Gerber
Update, bought in Nov 2025โ tried again after a few months bc needed for basic nutrition, elderly adult with chewing-swallowing problems. Before they were packed in plastic wrapper, there was a big spill on the line, and most lids were coated with a thin layer of dried chicken, and not cleaned before packing. So old, dried, and hard, it was hard to wash off, and we ended up throwing out. Plus, the chicken was a weird mix of watery and rough, so it had a watery flavor and was very hard for elderly adult with dysphagia to swallow. Canโt imagine risking babiesโ health with germy, spoiled jar lids, or trying to teach them to love textures with this stuff. Dropped from two to one star. Have to go back to Gerber. Original reviewโ Bought in Aug 2025, expiration more than six months out โ hoped to love this for adult with chewing-swallowing problems. They said it was watery and grainy, no cornstarch thickener like Gerber, and lower fat than, but same protein and price as Gerber. We like having choices about the amount of fat (some is healthy), but the graininess doesnโt help the chewing-swallowing problems. Watery flavor might have been something to adjust to, but prob not worth it.

16 year old dog loves them
I buy these for my elderly dog. He has no teeth and has a hard time with food. Hes picky and won't eat regular soft dog food even though I buy the refrigerated human grade food. He does love these baby foods so I alternate between which kinds to buy. As long as he's eating I'm happy.

baby food that works for kittens too
I actually used this for a feral abandoned kitten. It had mostly protein and the texture was nice. It does separate in the jar so you have to shake it up first. She gobbled it up for the first couple of weeks while we transitioned to other cat wet food and kibble but she still likes it as a snack.

If your cat won't eat - try this
If you don't already know this, when you have a sick cat sometimes the only thing you can get them to eat is baby food. Just the chicken or turkey. I find that they like those the best. I did recently discover that Gerber has cornstarch in it whereas Beech-nut has two ingredients - chicken broth, chicken. I would not recommend feeding this exclusively to your cat, but it is a lifesaver when they are sick.

Now very runny
I used to buy to feed cats that weren't eating their regular food. The consistency was thicker and had more meat. Vets suggest this brand because it has lower sodium. Not happy paying $1.00 per runny, not full jar. The cat loves what is there...flavor is good.
