Very fresh, and consistent
I am an espresso aficionado, and I have tried tons of blends, this is my first time buying Nicoletti's. I am thoroughly blown away by the quality of the bean and roast consistency, and the taste of the bean in a shot. I ordered this product on recommendation from a barista forum, and I am in love, and will definitely be ordering more. The taste in an americano is incredibly smooth, with no bitterness aftertaste or acidity to my palette. The bean as a double shot is also smooth with little acidity, but no real bitterness for me to call out, it really is an excellent bean, I pull it at 20g in the basket, with 40g output at ~30secs. Milk drinks are truly sublime with this bean, and that is a huge win for me, its either way overpowering or too mellow and masked by the milk drink. This bean shines through perfectly and it is incredibly consistent when brewed. The real gem is the amount of value this bean holds, its 20$ with free shipping(Im hoping that is including priority shipping for all orders for the future), and it also is roasted by right before its shipped, with a roast on date listed on the bag. Do not hesitate to try this bean, I will be ordering again, and it will be my go to for the foreseeable future without a doubt. Update: Ive ordered maybe 8lbs from this seller now, and it has been Priority Shipping every time with very consistent quality of freshness, and the quintessential 'Roasted on' date posted on the item. This seller is highly worth the price, and to hit on that price again; you will NOT find a better bean for the price, I guarantee that 110%. Its another question though if you like super dark roast(which isn't preferable anyways for Espresso beans, but to each their own), if you do like bordering on burnt beans(True Italian Roast/Turkish Roast) then don't buy these. These beans are flawlessly roasted every time Ive bought them, a perfect chocolate brown/Full City Roast, with EXCELLENT Crema every batch. Truly a MUST BUY.

Simply lost for words!
This coffee should cost way more than what it does, its that good! seriously! I have tried so many brands by now its not even funny, and setting all different kind of settings on my Breville Barista Express. It was always hit or miss, either pours out too fast, no crema, or crema but chokes the machine on many different grind settings. Lavazza used to be my go to, and I still have it, but this Nicoletti espresso is by far superior. 1. Smooth velvety taste, not bitter, not sour, so good I can drink it with no sugar or creme! 2. So much crema its ridiculous! I could tell the machine it was gonna be good pour just by the sound of the machine. So smooth coming out, looked like a freaking latte coming out, one smooth pour. setting 7, perfect 30sec pour, No clogs, no drips, nothing. It looked just like when you see pros on youtube make espresso shots, finally I have achieved it. 3. Price! for the same price or so of Lavazza, coffee that was roasted two days before I received it or so. That is insane! Its like having your own private roaster for your espresso! I am in no shape or form paid or bribed to write these comments, I usually never leave reviews, but I am telling you guys, if you have been looking to make a perfect espresso this is it and its all in the freshness of the bean I believe. I now believe that it is more important than the type of bean in my opinion. Insanely good!

perfect!
Great coffee, fantastically nice people, received in three days, and my coffee was three days old. Emphatically, yes, these folks are fantastic at what they do, and are humans that I enjoy dealing with, and will for a long time into the future! My only regret is that I didn't find them sooner! Though it's listed as a 'light roast'-- I suspect that's more for the folks who might have different expectations from an espresso-- it's pretty much a classic roast profile, though. I generally pull shots of it at 18g in and about 25-27g out, and it's got a fantastic flavor which i use for americanos and straight shots- nice mouth feel, and crema you could stand a quarter on! This is not 'modern' espresso 'with notes of blueberry, lemongrass, sage, and a pleasant florality' that needs a half gallon of water pulled through it to make it palatable- thank goodness-- it's properly roasted and tastes as you'd expect a classic espresso should taste- so if you're looking for acids on display-- you should look probably look elsewhere. I probably should've let it rest a little longer... but it smelled so fantastic, I really didn't feel like waiting! Glad I didn't... super recommended!

Fabulous espresso bean at an unbeatable value
SUMMARY - I can't believe I found this business, and this roast. I was tooling around on my espresso forums, reading about something else, and someone mentioned this local Brooklyn business was now on Amazon. I placed an order. WOW! This is an absolutely exceptional fresh roasted espresso bean for an amazing value. This is now going to be my go-to espresso roast, no question about it. VALUE - I live in Boston and I was either ordering my beans from roasters, or buying them locally. I was paying $15 MINIMUM for a 12oz bag before. Honestly this is a better roast, more fresh, and way better crema than anything I was buying locally. Now compare that to this... 2.2 pound bag for $22 shipped to my door! It's insane. I've improved my espresso, cut my coffee cost in half, and I don't have to go wait in line for the hipster at the local roaster to finally get around to helping me. QUALITY - As others stated, these beans are fresh. A perfect Italian light espresso roast. I am pulling shots from an Astra Pro espresso machine, 18g in the basket, 2 fl oz double shot. Grinding with aTONS of crema, and absolutely stunning pull every time. Very consistent, very stable in milk drinks. Grinding with a Mazer Mini (doserless) and the coffee was quick to dial in. CONCERNS/PROBLEMS - Honestly, my only concern is that this coffee is so good that they might raise the price or start to get inundated with orders and not be able to keep up. It's such a good find I almost don't want people to know about it!

Smooth, Robust and Alive!!!!
I have been a customer of Amazon since 1999. I may have written ONE review, not to do a disservice to other clients but I have not been moved to write a review until NOW. I have a superautomatic espresso machine and am amazed by the convenience, will it ever beat having someone who knows what they are doing pulling a shot with a portafilter? Nah!... its not going to happen BUT I press a button and I get an espresso, easy peasy nice and easy. I am originally from New York, so there was no need for a Starbucks. I go to an Italian restaurant and got a great epresso with a twist of lemon zest on the side sometimes. I have moved elswhere and had to fend for myself. I have tried Illy beans for my machine, it was ok and Lavazza Gran Espresso , I wasnt inspired, BUT lo and behold I came across Nicoletti's Espresso Beans , ordered them which had a ROAST DATE of July 25, 2019, got them on the 29th free shipping. I switched out the Illy I had in my machine , poured the Nicoletti beans,( regarding the beans the aroma was ridiculous!). They were roasted medium and not oily so that's great for my machine. After I did three shots then I noticed the difference, wow! the color! , the crema! then the aroma was out of this world , not acidic full of natural sweetness when it hits the front of your pallete , then kinda of a burnt but pleasant chocolate in the background saying , "Sip me! Drink me! " I then proceeded with shot in my hand to write this review for Mr. Nicoletti. The price point, the freshness, the absolute enjoyment is so worth it. I know I do not have to pay for overpriced roasters to get this kind of experience that I desire. I also know that I can order more coffee and get it fresh (the roasting date tells you). You can buy the other brands with no roasting date and get coffee that has lost its life many months ago(yes coffee is ALIVE!) , or get Nicoletti's. No I have not gotten a discount or a promo or was asked to do this review, but I do know if I was in Brooklyn I would get my coffee there. You know what? I now have a hankering for some anisette with a coffee bean! Better yet , some Seafood Fra Diavolo from Vesuvios, UGH!!!! I gotta stop!!

Awesome beans, super fresh!
I've been pretty loyal to the Coffee Bean Direct 5lb bags of the Italian roast for the last few years. Out of all the beans I've tried, they represented not only the best value for the money, but flavor/consistency and versatility. As I prepared to put in my order for my 15th bag or so, I decided it may be time to try something else. A quick search turned up these beans from Nicoletti roasters in NY. I decided to give them a try and boy, I'm glad I did. These beans are in a different class. The roasted date was literally 3 days prior to them being delivered to me! Now that is fresh. And it shows. The crema is out of this world. It looks like you're pouring a Guinness. I use a Barista Express 870, grind setting to 5 and the double shot filter. Perfection in cappuccino form or over ice with a splash of cream. These are my new go-to beans. Give them a try, it is unlikely you will be disappointed.

Definitely Light Roast Espresso
This review is my opinion of what these beans are and aren't. I normally drink Red Bird Coffee Espresso. I saw very positive reviews about these beans, and wanted to try something different. I agree with all of the comments regarding the quality, shipping, freshness, and especially it being a LIGHT espresso. The LIGHT is where I found the beans to be lacking, for me. The flavors are much more nuanced, and while I tried a number of settings changes for grind and temperature, I was not able to get past the LIGHT taste for an espresso. I normally drink an Americano iced, with a dash of 1/2 and 1/2. So if you are truly looking for a toned down espresso, this bean will please you. I wouldn't be able to find any other issue with it. On the other hand, if wanted to try something that isn't as so toned down, give Red Bird Espresso a shot (nice pun :-))
