Although I did purchase this for post-surgery recovery after knee surgery it is a great tool for pre surgery as well. My Dr. at Rothman stressed the importance of going through physical therapy BEFORE my surgery. This was never mentioned to me by other "knee" doctors I had seen. Once explained how important it was to strengthen the muscles not only in the knee that I was having rebuilt but also the other knee and leg that would have to take on the role of supporting my body during the healing process it made perfect sense. That being said I was having a lot of pain trying to do these pre-surgery exercises and this type of machine was what the young lady at my physical therapy sessions used before and after each session. Continuing the exercises at home this device has been working perfectly to decrease the pain and allow for much more flexibility. Of course, it will also be needed for after the surgery. The machine is very similar to the one at the center but smaller and much more portable with the added convenience of not having to be plugged in to a wall socket. Unlike icepacks you are able to regulate the temperature, so you don't have that "painful" arctic cold in the beginning and the soggy wet luke warm cold in the end. The built-in timer is also a nice feature. The ice you add last hours so no need to buy a huge bag of ice. The ice machine in the fridge easily keeps up with the need for a refill. This is indeed perfect for any type of joint surgery recover but would be worth the investment to have for post exercise. Using ice therapy after a home exercise session allows your muscles to recover twice as fast and prevents that next day annoyance of the sore muscles in the target area. Very happy with the quality of the device and the results I am getting from it. I feel more ready than ever to get my knee surgery done as I know I am more than ready for a successful surgery and post sugery healing.

Worked great for two months then all of a sudden the pad started leaking. No warning or indication anything was wrong. So far I haven’t found anyway to get a replacement. I used this everyday after knee replacement surgery. I’m two weeks into my second knee replacement and this is a vital part of my therapy. I don’t want to buy a new one but I may have no choice. If I do, it will be a different product.

Bought this because my wife had second knee replacement. Over last few weeks have noticed much less swelling and black & blue from other knee surgery. easy to use, but have several suggestions. Top should have some easier way to remove than just prying off -- a handle or tabs would be nice. Have had a recurring issue where the unit flashes and then just turns off after initial start. E-mailed customer service twice but no response. Found that by unplugging the power to the top of the unit seems to clear up the issue (until next time). Overall worth it.

This Cold Therapy System is a game-changer. It perfectly surrounded my knee with cooling comfort, and really helped speed the healing process. Even more important, when we had a problem with leakage, their customer service person was very responsive and made things right. I cannot say enough good things about this company or the product.

Very unhappy with unit, not sure why the unit keeps shutting off when properly filled with ice and water. Also the temp will not decrease once the unit is turned on for a second round of treatment, the display will start blinking and just shut down. And of course I am one day over the return period so where does that leave the customer?? Especially since I am only two weeks into my knee replacement and need a working unit??
