Again, Rachel

Absolutely delightful book, I always love any books that Marian Keyes has authored! They're refreshing, hilarious, and very realistic. The characters never feel forced. They are all flawed but still very lovable, which is such a hard balance to strike! Rachel's holiday was the first book of hers that I read, and I was glad to get to read another book about Rachel. I would say the only book of hers that I have cried more while reading was "Is Anybody Out There?" Definitely worth the read, but I would read all of the Walsh family books before this one, or at the very least, Rachel's Holiday first!

This tale starts as light as a cloud but takes very dark turns In protagonist’s reminiscences. Always truthful and brave she acts with the wisdom and knowledge that her past has given her. Hard to put this down as I related to so much of the content, and thoroughly enjoyed it, admittedly with somewhat bated breath.

Another absolutely lovely read from one of my favourite authors. This has been on my TBR since it came out last year, but I only just got to it (darn the size of my TBR). I have been reading Keyes for twenty-plus years because her work has never gone stale, and this book was just what I hoped for after much anticipation. Again, Rachel is a fresh story that revisits one of Keyes earliest characters — the heroine of Rachel’s Holiday (1997). Now 20+ years clean and sober (or is she?) our heroine Rachel is in her 40s, divorced, and head counsellor at the rehab where she was once a client. When I was in my 20s, Keyes’ 20-something characters spoke to me, and to get to hang out with those characters again (especially the Walsh clan of sisters), now that I too am in my 40s, is such a treat. This book has lovely writing, as always, as well as deeply relatable and realistic issues and challenges, and an ultimately comforting story with an HEA that is nonetheless not predictable. I think Again, Rachel does justice to the first book, without feeling like a rehash (and it can absolutely be read as a standalone, so fear not). I will say that there is a cheating plot point that I struggled with a little so if that is a trigger for you, best to be aware of it, and I also don’t think this is a great read for younger readers. Best for 30-somethings and above. And American readers who struggle to relate to other cultures may balk at the distinctly Irish-setting and tone. TWs for mentions of grape/familial SA, various addictions and substance abuse, and pregnancy/infant/child loss.

All Marion Keyes book are great but her books about the Walsh family are my favorites. And this Walsh family book was very good

Wow. Just wow. I have had many favorite authors who wrote amazing books, but as their careers wore on, the quality of their books waned. I can fervently say that this is NOT the case with Marian Keyes! I’ve read the Walsh family books over and over and over again. I have been delighted and entertained and enthralled by them all. I was hesitant about reading a sequel, but I have to say that I was DELIGHTED by this book. The candor with which she writes, the very real and dark and intense emotions that she bring levity to, and the consistency of the characters over time is a joy to read and experience. I’m always so anxious waiting for a new book to come out and this one delivered. One of my absolute favorite all-time authors who has great taste in names for secondary characters (Ahem, Ariella, ahem). Highly highly recommended. Thank you for giving Rachel a second act.

One of the few “sequels”to a wonderful book that is equally wonderful! The same kind of heart touching awareness and pain and love, as in the first Rachel book, and at the same time, new poignant twists and turns revealing the rest of Rachel and Luke’s story. What a completely satisfying read!! Love it!! And Thank you Marian Keyes! You absolutely didn’t let us down!

I felt this book needed to be edited a little better, it was way longer than it had to be, on and on about the worries about everything. I’ve always loved Marian Keyes, I was surprised that she unnecessarily felt the need to insult Republicans, really having nothing to do with the story, it has lessened my opinion of her.

As usual, I love Marian Keyes' books. I was really confused about this one *****SPOILER ALERT****! I read the Mammy Walsh A-Z book in which it had the fact that Luke and Rachel went on to have a little boy named Moses, but Mammy Walsh was ashamed of that name, so she told everyone her grandson's name was MIchael. Whatever. Anyway, I thought, "How nice for Luke and Rachel." Then this book came out. Another storyline altogether. On the one hand, the ****SPOILER ALERT*****stillbirth storyline was deep, poignant, and very beautiful. On the other hand, I cannot believe Luke would leave Rachel after that, even if she was very whacked out on Ambien. But the story was lovely, and as a loss Mom myself from way back, I had so many bittersweet memories come up, and feel whoever helped her do the research had everything covered so thoroughly. Anyway, it was a strange book and everything didn't ring true (Claire and Adam, just for starters) but you cannot have everything. It was Keyes' usually mostly excellent writing.

This is one of Marion Keyes' best "Walsh family" books. Full of humour, but the story keeps you guessing and the characters are so full they leap off the page. Really loved this one.l

Rach and Luke…. A love affair for the ages. This book is incredibly sad, heartbreaking in places. Beautifully and sympathetically written as always. Lots of familiar faces, dilemmas and new characters to fall in love with.

humor, getting more mature and honest about life experiences aree very well described with the authors usual flippant style

It’s really, komplex story, where you can meet all the charakters of the Walsh family. I enjoyed it immensely! Thank you, dear Marian Keys, for writing such beautiful books!
