The most comfortable yet
Please check out my edit at the bottom of this review! These just arrived today, so after I set up the basics, the first thing I did was take them down the gym for a workout! Not bad at all. I have a small ear canal, and therefore the extra small tips are great - and while I am aware of them in my ear, they don't feel too tight and the wingtip doesn't rub - they are actually really soft, so I suspect long term use will warrant a replacement. They are a bit tricky to position at first, but I expect to get used to that in time - they didn't fall out during any of my cardio or weight training efforts. The fit in my left ear felt slightly better than my right, but that's clearly more to do with my biology than anything Sony got wrong. The ANC is more than acceptable, although not as good as that on my larger over-the-ear headphones. The overall sound quality is superb. In a quietish room they'll be great, but in a gym, the ANC won't completely drown out their music until you put your own sounds on. Remembering the tapping sequence is a bit tricky - I keep turning off the ANC - again, this will take some getting used it. The new app is a bit confusing and I'm still not completely clear on all the operational functions, however I guess that's just a learning curve for me. After many years of looking for the perfect sports earbud, I think this is the best so far. EDIT: After a little bit of use, I've noticed that the connection occasionally drops - mainly when I'm in the gym. When this happens, I need to either reconnect via the app or put them back into the charging case. This might be a glitch that can be sorted out with an update, but if it persists, I will be contacting Sony.

Great sound in a slightly flawed package
Worth the price with great smooth sound and a helpful app to control, but it's not without its flaws. The app sometimes closes itself and where it's link to the touch sensitive buds, it means that alot of the time the touch won't work. Also a few months in the noise cancellation feature bugged in one of the ears and is now very sensitive to bass sounds, making it nearly unusable. Keeping on it's default setting and sometimes using the spacial feature when walking around makes it more than satisfactory.

Great at first
Absolutely loved these at first. Found the noise cancelling great and also calls were crisp and clear. Looked great and never had any problems Fast forward 9 months and the right earbud keeps losing sound. 1 minute its ok the next its muffled, then it just doesnt work at all!. Very disappointed to say the least. I have returned them back to Sony to be repaired but would of thought these would have lasted longer. Especially for the price i paid which was £130. Now left with no earbuds.

Nice fit and good sound quality, but poor usability
I bought these airbuds as a replacement for my first-generation Beats Fit Pros, so that’s my point of comparison for this review. Positives: - The earbuds fit very well, with the little rubber “wings” keeping them securely in my ears even when I’m exercising. The rubber wings feel more sturdy than the ones on the Beats Fit Pro. - Sound quality seems good to me. But I only listen to podcasts (rarely to music), and usually with only one bud in at a time. - The microphone also works well for calls (the microphone in the Beats Fit Pros was useless). However, I have quite a lot of frustrations with these earbuds: - They take a long time to connect to my phone or computer when I take them out of the case and put them in my ear. Sometimes they just fail to connect at all, and I have to spend a frustrating couple of minutes putting them in and taking them out of the case until they succeed. - They are useless at recognising when I've taken them out of my ear: they rarely stop playing when I remove them. - I also find it very difficult to get them to recognise the double-tap gesture to start or stop playing. Since the earbuds don’t recognise when I remove them from my ears and I can’t reliably double tap, the only way I have to pause playing when I want to talk to someone is to get my phone out. I really miss the physical button from the Beats Fit Pro. - I get lots of false positives with the voice assistant (it thinking I’m talking to it when I’m not), so had to switch it off. Also, it’s just weird that I have to say “play music" instead of just "play”, given that I’m rarely listening to music. - There are various features that sound impressive but which are useless in reality, such as the "adaptive sound control" - and it's complicated figuring out how to switch them all off. I haven't really understood what "ambient sound" is supposed to do, but it seems to just amplify noises around me (with a lot of added hissing): I'm not sure why this would be useful, except to people who are hard of hearing. - I like the idea of the “speak to chat” function: it’d be great if playback would pause when I’m talking to someone else. But instead this seems to activate “ambient sound”, meaning lots of hissing in my ears. - The feature to send a notification to my phone when the battery level in the case would be useful. But I get these notifications all the time, sometimes even while the case is currently charging. - The iOS app seems unnecessarily complicated. - The case is an odd shape: it feels quite bulky in my pocket. Overall, the experience of using these earbuds is just too frustrating for me to recommend them to anyone else.

Amazing
I have used these earbuds for 5 months now and I haven’t had any problems with them. The sound quality is brilliant and I bought them to replace an old pair of AirPods Pro. The sound quality is great and you can adjust your audio tastes if you download the app. The noise cancelling is good for the price and it effectively blocks out my heaving stomping and motor/belt of my treadmill whilst I’m running. People report hearing me clearly and accurately when I use the ear buds for meetings and video calls. The colour is beautiful and I enjoy the mini cube shaped charging case. The earbuds can produce very loud sound, the battery life is great and I’ve never run out of battery (I use between 4-6 hours and day). They’re very easy to pair and use. The winged tip fits perfectly in my ears and they haven’t fallen out during running, weight lifting or tennis! It’s clear to say they’re extremely secure once in properly. I would buy these again over AirPods any day. Sony have always made quality products at decent prices.

Poor noise cancellation and touch controls
Comfortable and decent sound quality when ANC is Off. But ANC is ineffectual, only slightly muting office noise and it's determental to the sound quality (horrible phasing effect). As for the touch controls, they are barely functional even on the highest setting.

Linkbuds fit.
Packaging whatever, blah blah. Down to the goods! In the pictures you see exactly 1 hour and 30 minutes of play, aac, 70% volume, anc on, Spotify highest quality setting. The second pic shows the galaxy buds FE and original linkbuds s for a size comparison. The case is deceptively large in the listing pics, it's actually tiny really. And finally "me"! As you can see these buds are small, extremely light and I will say the comfort is remarkable, I seriously cannot feel them. Anc is comparable with the linkbuds s, be warned it is auto optimization anc, so it will adjust according to your surroundings and this works very well. Now the sound, well I think it's basically the same as the linkbuds s to be honest, do use the "find your eq" in the Sony app, this really works well. Now the tap gestures, well these are all over the place! You can change the sensitivity in the app, you can tap your cheekbones and it reacts! I don't know how Sony does this weird sorcery, but it's quite amazing really. Little tip, use 2 fingers when you tap your cheek, it seems to like this as opposed to a single finger. So summing up, glitchy tap controls, sound great, battery is OK but realistically it's going to be about 4.5 hours before the annoying lady starts nagging you to charge. I have all the gimmicks switched off aswell, so if you use DSEE or ldac you might struggle to get 3 hours I think. So why am I keeping them? Well they just fit Soooo damn well and they sound great. Oh, Bluetooth is faultless, walk around my whole flat and no problems, galaxy a25 5g phone. Ps,,, these charge very quickly, placed the buds in the case both at 30%, timed exactly 5 minutes and then reconnected to the app and they were both showing 70%! Quite impressive. Not bad Sony.......

Not fit for purpose due to apparent design flaw
I've now had two pairs of these, one bought here, on Amazon, both with the exact same failing. In short, when you take these out on the street, the sound randomly cuts out, primarily in the right ear. Used with a Samsung Galaxy S25 and updated to the latest LinkBuds firmware, 1.3.2. Both in LDAC and AAC modes. Equally with streamed content and music stored locally on the phone. I also tried changing (turning off) all (power saving etc) settings in the Sony app to no avail. Interestingly, when you use the transparency mode (without content playing), this also cuts out from time to time, again primarily in the right channel. I even found a way to reproduce this deliberately. When operating a house alarm panel that beeps as you type on it, and your head is at a certain angle, the transparency mode cuts out in a predictable manner. Were I to hazard a guess, the LinkBuds misconstrue those sounds as feedback and, therefore, cut power for a second, or so. Oddly, however, the problems are not limited to that mode. Music may cut out, even if noise cancelling / ambient passthrough are turned off. Perhaps the feedback detection remains on, regardless. I cannot say why this primarily happens on the right channel only. Perhaps it has something to do with my ear geometry and the fit of the earbuds. That said, I did use the Sony app's seal testing function and switched to the large tips early on. Everything I said refers to the large tips with a good seal. Indeed, when it works, I think the noise cancelling is quite good. The above unfortunately kills this product, at least for my ears. Other than that, the earbuds are nice enough that I tried the second pair when I saw the purple ones at a low price. I genuinely thought my existing pair was faulty. Otherwise: Light, good fit, decent sound, very useable noise cancelling, even if it's apparently not the best. The purple is darker than it appears in photos. If you prefer black, you might like the purple as well.

Better than a flagship Sony
Very good earbuds. ANC is very effective for use in noise places, ambient mode is the best I've ever heard. The sound quality is good, and the bass is highly competent! The fit is very secure and comfortable. The wings I can feel slightly but no big deal. The tap controls are awesome. These earbuds are not for those who want very good noise canceling because without playing music the ANC is gonna let in more noises than a good noise canceling earbud. I highly recommend these as sport buds. It's comfortable for everyday but wings make it a little bit tighter for me, but i would be very fine with this if I didn't have something else to use.
