Q: I am using a Foscam that has infrared for night use. It is aimed through a glass window and the glare is a problem. Will this solve that?

Ignore the previous response, you don't need a circular polarizer. Yes THIS is what you need to cut reflection from inside the glass.

Q: has anyone tried holding one of these filters in front of a point and shoot digital camera? I'm trying to filter out glare from acrylic paint.

I tried using mine in front of a CCTV camera to reduce glare from fluorescent bulbs. Didn't work. The lens is polorized fine, just didn't work for my application.

They are tinted and polarized. Like polarized sunglasses. BTW…you only get one filter per order, not the bundle the picture shows.

Q: will this film stop a scanning device from seeing something the eyes see?

A scanner should see what your eyes see, unless the scanner's light source is an LED. All LEDs emit polarized light. A polarizing filter will then block out all light except when aligned with the LED's polarization. You will need to check your scanner specs to answer your question.
