As a loyal reader of Erin Gates, I had high expectations for the book and can honestly say that it exceeded my expectations! I had no idea how many projects she has worked on as there was so much fresh content! I think it is incredible that she has not used her blog to share her amazing and transformative client work, and always gives readers something insightful and fun to contemplate. This book is no exception! Each layout is unique combining signature stylish elements, with special touches in very livable spaces, so its great eye candy. But with the addition of tips and tricks, it becomes a great guide for your own home and life. Loyal blog readers should be comforted to know you will find Erin's humor, humility and practical style tips for home and wardrobe but truly amazed at the range and beauty of the work she has done. Anyone else looking for a beautifully styled coffee table book will get that too, but find themselves actually reading this one over and over for the inspiration (both for design and living!) and pure enjoyment of hearing Erin's personal and professional journey. I love the way it is organized, by room, combining pictures from her portfolio of work, her own living and working spaces, and charts and guides for determining elements of your own style. A great mix that results in a usable and beautiful book.

Really nice and real

I have ordered many design books in my time, mostly just taking quick looks through the pictures and putting them on the shelf never to be touched again. So far I am finding this book quite different. One of the most appealing aspects of the book for me has been the stories, and the beautiful way Erin has weaved these stories into a book about creating not just a house but a home. The stories are so compelling, in fact, that my wife (who has no interest in design) and I are reading the stories with each other at night leading to some laughs and interesting conversations about our own process of creating a home together.I don't know Erin, but her writing has such a personal voice that it is very relatable, both in her blog and in this book. I'm not usually compelled to write reviews for books, but I think Erin deserves credit for putting together such a beautiful book. It is clear that time was taken to make this book unique, not just a bunch of blog posts strung together in book form. As someone who has read all her blog posts, that is much appreciated and also reflects on Erin's dedication to making this book something new and fresh. I would highly recommend this book, not just for those interested in design, but for anyone interested in reflecting on creating a life with someone and reading great writing. This book will offer more than your typical design book, I can't wait to continue my journey reading it!

I love the color of the cover and the spine. I purchased this to display the spine of the book, not to read it. looks great paired with my other black and white books. The price was good for this book and came somewhat not damaged. corner of books can sometimes get damaged in transit as this one did not have any packaging when delivered.

I've been a long time fan of Erin's blog, but honestly was skeptical as too exactly how the blog would translate to book. There have been a few other blogs to books that simply didn't live up to the hype for me. Well, I took a shot and ordered and I am so glad I did. This book absolutely exceeded all of my expectations and is so, so well done!! The images are original, inspiring and beautifully laid out. But what really sets this book apart from so many others - is that beyond being a brilliant designer - Erin is a fantastic writer as well. Erin's voice as an author really comes through and she presents design in such an approachable, practical, and wholly entertaining way. I don't need just another coffee table book filled with pretty images , I need real, practical advice for designing my home on my budget- and this is exactly what Erin delivers. There is so much great content including information on where to splurge and where to save, suggestions on paint colors, hanging drapes, tips for renters, color combinations that work well, how to define your own personal style - all the design information I really need! I have gotten so many great ideas on how to improve my own home, as well as the confidence to make some choices that I was on the fence about. Awesome, awesome job, Erin - thanks for creating what I would call the most must-have book in interior design!
