This is an extended length 30 cm (12 inch) powered PCIE riser cable designed for medium to large mining rigs. Relocating and increasing the spacing between graphics cards will dramatically improve cooling and reduce power consumption for hashing or mining rigs. Using a powered PCIE riser cable will also protect your motherboard from overdrawing power on it's ATX power connector, however the power is optional as you are not required to use the Molex. Some recommend to connect the Molex to the power supply if you are running 3 or more cards. This is not needed and is totally up to you. You can use this PCI-e riser cable without the power. We have successfully built 5 card rigs without using the molex power. The molex provides redirection of power, and some say it can lessen the chance of damaging your motherboard when used.
