VILTROX 28mm f4.5 Pancake Lens for Sony E Mount, 28mm f/4.5 FE Chips-Size Ultra-Thin Full Frame Lens for Sony E

For the price of it I had to buy one, I’ve always loved the 28mm focal length and wanted something small for my A7c. It came nicely boxed and I was impressed by the build quality. I’ve taken a few shots with it so far and I have to say I’m impressed. One shot I took you could count the hairs on the back of my hand. Autofocus isn’t really close and not the fastest but overall I can see this lens spending a lot of time on my camera

+ small, slim and light + works with APS-C body + ease of use + well-made even considering its footprint + can produce sharp photos + autofocus is fast and spot on + there's a bit of noise but only when it's darker + gives your photos "vintage" look + will make your setup smaller + vignetting is easy to control + good color reproduction - almost no bokeh at f/4.5, photos look more out of focus - constant aperture of f/4.5, so you cannot change it - you have to open the lens before you turn on your camera, if you won't do this, lens may break after prolonged use

Very happy with this little lens, the built in lens cover is superb. I only recently purchased the camera and this lens is such a reasonable price it easily allowed me to add it to my little set up. It’s so small I can just slip it in my pocket.

Well, it is small, but comes with compromises. Not great on a high resolution full frame Sony as expected, better suits a crop sensor camera in my opinion (42mm view). My copy is soft down the right hand side of the frame which mostly disappears on an a cropped sensor. Being a cheap 3rd party lens the focus sometimes completely misses or hunts, I have not used it much as a result. It loses 3 stars for quality control and focus issues but gains one back for being small and cheap.

This lens is incredibly small and lives up to all the hype I’ve seen online. It weighs hardly anything and has excellent performance. Really effective walk around lens and ideal for street photography. Very happy with the purchase and incredible value for money.

Permet de se balader avec son APN dans une configuration très compacte. Les images sont très correctes. Il faut bien avoir en tête qu'on ne peut pas jouer sur l'ouverture ! Mais est-ce vraiment un problème à cette focale ?... Pas cher !

What this lens lacks in features it makes up for in fun and simplicity. I wish this lens had a lot of things like a variable aperture, manual focus ring, or better close focusing. However, considering it's about the size of a body cap I can't imagine how they would pull any of that off without making it bigger and that would just ruin the experience. What's great: The small size is absolutely amazing. The image quality is great. The autofocus is sufficient, it's no GM but it works well. What could be better: The lens is extremely sensitive to flare and haze, you have to be extremely mindful where your light sources are. The lever to open the lens sticks out a little too much and has gotten snagged when placing in a camera bag and opened the lens. Overall I would highly recommend the Viltrox 28 f4.5, this thing is coming with me everywhere! There is no reason not to have one of these as a fancy body cap with an autofocus skylight!

You'll find plenty of reviews about this little pancake around the internet: it's super small, super cheap, and a lot of fun. It definitely takes some practice to see what kind of shots work best with this (f/4.5, not very contrasty, so get yourself a lot of light!) After a few months of use, I had an issue where the integrated lens cap didn't operate mechanically anymore. I had to go through warranty, and was kindly helped via email. It took some effort to reach the right channel (email them directly on info@ or amzservice@), but after that the process was smooth!

I was surprised how good it is. For so cheap, I can actually take great pictures. Worth the money.
