This stuff works excellent! Used it for a bunch of raw steel that I welded up for under-counter brackets, vintage ceiling lighting, etc... Was able to make it look super rustic, without the need to simply paint it black. Depending on how much you use, or how long you leave it on, will determine how dark/blackened the metal becomes.

I needed to sand down the grip safety on a parkerized 1911 A1 a bit as it dug into the web of my hand. Used the Presto Black Steel when I was done and it came out great. A little darker than the original, but you wouldn't really notice unless you were looking for it. Holding up well.

Dang, this stuff works so fast you better not blink!! The beauty ring bolts in my bronco were kind of messed up from removing a couple times so bare metal was showing through the black. I poured some of this stuff on a bowl, dropped the button head torx bolts in and Shazam! No more silver was showing. Incredible. They look fantastic. One difference from the stock bolts is these come out with a matte black finish while the OEM Ford bolts have a shine on the black. I waxed these baby’s up and they look very, very close to the stock ones. Nobody would ever know. I got so punch happy I took my eyeglasses apart and threw the frames in but no go, this stuff only works in steel not aluminum. Oh well, can’t win ‘em all. This stuff works really well, if you need to blacken some steel hardware…get you some!

Very disappointed. I tried this product as suggested in the instructions and even in a stronger ratio and it did nothing. Product turned a little black then basically all washed off when rinsing in water. I went back to painting my hardware.

Works but don't no how long it lasts

Works great, works quick, just be sure to clean the surface really well. Any grease or oil with stop the reaction. I used isopropyl alcohol to clean my surface.

Results ranged on used steel bolts. The black coating was uneven, even though bolts were properly scrubbed, cleaned, and coated correctly. Efficacy was also lower than expected for the cost of the product. In some cases, it would be cheaper to purchase newly finished metals.
