This gate had one advantage that was critical to us: a small pet entry gate big enough for our cats--one over 20lbs--and strong enough to fend off our 120lb lab/german shepard mix. The gate is used at the entrance of the room where we feed the cats and keep their litter box. The gate is quite sturdy, heavy duty steel construction that is kept in place by pressure from two horizontal "legs"---top and bottom--that have about a 3 1/2 inch screw-in metal legs with a metal disk covered by a sturdy vinyl cup. I did not need either of the two metal spacers that can be inserted on either or both sides to cover wider openings. My door measures just under 30". The pet door is also well made. It can be locked securely in the closed position, but we keep it in an open position for easy use by the cats. I doesn't swivel easily following installation, but with a little WD-40 it could probably swivel reasonably freely. THe gate mechanism is great. It requires two buttons to be pressed at once and a bit of upward pressure to open, but this is easily accomplished with one hand, for example if you were carrying a baby. The installation instructions are B+, but the whole process is so uncomplicated it only takes a few minutes. One adventure in gate use might be useful to describe. My wife, who is 5'4" tried to step over the gate the first time she tried to use it because I hadn't explained the opening mechanism. Of course the result was CRASH! Fortunately the gate is strong enough that nothing was damaged and it easily went back into place. It's still solid after a few weeks of use.

The media could not be loaded. I bought 2 of these gates to aid in the potty training of our new Yorkie. I searched for quite some time trying to find a gate that had all of the features we were looking for. I knew we definitely wanted a wide door, slats close enough for when he was under 2lbs, and something that was aesthetically pleasing, and not too difficult to open with one hand. I couldn't decide if I wanted one that needed installed or not. I knew it would be the best way to insure a wide walkthrough since one of these gates were going to be blocking our highest traffic area in our home. I really didn't want to damage the walls any further. We still hadn't repaired the walls from when we got our 1st Yorkie, who unexpectedly passed away too soon. I searched high and low, and on many websites, and besides a gates that needed installed and fully swung open, this brand had the widest width opening from any pressure mounted gate. I kept coming back to this, but it took awhile to pull the trigger. I'm glad I did, because these gates are awesome.Our main hallway is 36 inches wide at the top, and 35 inches wide at the bottom where we have our trim. We could install with only 1 extension, and all four feet, but our Yorkie could walk right through the side. My husband originally put the 2nd extension on the other side, but it was too wide. He then tried it attached to the other extension, and that allowed it to fit just right, but without the bottom foot on the left side at the bottom where the trim is. I show this in the video in this review. So, at a 35 inch opening, this will be the problem if you're trying to keep a small dog in or out. To our surprise, this didn't cause a problem with how sturdy the gate is or how it performs. It's literally a perfect fit! No one would even notice unless we pointed it out. The gate does not wiggle or move in the slightest, and the gate auto closes, unless we open it to 90 degrees, at which case, it stays open. This is important for when we are carrying groceries, or when we want to keep the pathway open. It is the walkway from our main living area to our bathroom, our stairs, and the front door, so it's used all day long. This gate has kept up with zero issues.Our 2nd area didn't need any extensions. It's 31.5 inches at the top, and 30.5 at the bottom where the trim is. This was a smooth installation, and again, the gate works great.It is easy to open with one hand. We honestly just pull up where the bottom mechanism is, and it opens. You don't need to press on the top mechanism. I show this in my video as well. My 7yr old has no trouble opening this. She does have to use both hands. She's 49 inches tall, and 50lbs. I don't think a toddler could open this because you do need to lift it up at the right part, and push open. The may try if they watch the adults doing it enough, but I don't think they'd be tall enough, or strong enough. For our needs, we're happy we're able to open it easily. We've had this for a few weeks, and I will update if anything changes. This thing has been used 100 times a day with our kid's coming in and out. It has been worked flawlessly. I definitely recommend this for small puppies, and small toddlers. If you need a wide opening, you will not find one wider on pressure mounted gate as of this review.

I bought one for a 48” opening and another for a 34” opening. Both fit perfectly. Easy to set up, solid, and EASY OPERATION. I like how the door will stay open if you open it all the way or otherwise will self close. I couldn’t be happier.

The height and adjustability is great for what I needed. It was simple to install and the material seems to be good quality. Very satisfied with it.

My boyfriend put up this gate for me, even though I could have done it myself. It took about less than 10 minutes to do, because he had to stop to get the measurements right. The gate has been absolutely great! Two thumbs up, 5 out of 5 stars!
