First a struggle, now really getting it!
I bought this book initially for a couple of reasons. One, because I wanted to know how to get that Malmsteen, RacerX, Megadeth sound and two because I really like how this book looked to start off basic and get complicated over time. I finished Troy Nelson's Guitar Aerobics 365 book earlier this year (this took me 16 months to complete) and was struggling where to go from there. I started working on his follow up, Fretboard Freedom but it didn't resonate with me. I needed something abstractly different.I started this book on August 6th and it was awkward getting started. I knew basic arpeggios but wasn't very fast nor fluid. Since that time (40-50 days), I've worked on this book almost an hour every day. My strategy is to work on each lesson and advance one new lesson ever day. So, when I practice, I still go back to lesson one and every day, I get better at the old lessons as I introduce a new one.My sweep arpeggio skills have grown immensely. I feel that I am 100x faster, clear and more fluid than ever. It really took no time to get there but it was still a lot of work. I am only at the start of Chapter 5 and I cannot wait to tackle more sweep challenges. It may take me another 4-5 months to complete but I think by then, I will be a completely different guitar player.
