My Precious! Yes I named my Kindle and Absolutely Love It.
I got my first Kindle I in 2011 when the keyboard was right there at your fingers. I love it then, but honestly couldn't go back to that verison. If I remember correctly it had Ads, it was very lightweight, and it was greyscale. I later upgraded to the very first Paperwhite, and then to the got the next Kindle generation of the Paperwhite which was the first waterproof one. And here we are today the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition and it's also waterproof. I love my Kindle so much I named it my Precious. Everyone laughs at me because I'll walk into a room and ask if anyone has seen Precious. Anyways back to why I love my Kindle. It's so much easier to use than previous generations. The screen is better looking, it more responsive to page turns, and it scrolls through the list of books much quicker. The battery lasts me a few days more that previous one, and it's much more reliable. I know that if I fully charge it use it a day, I can pretty much go back a few days later and have battery life left. This Kindle also has an auto-adjust front light which helps when reading. And If you shop right, like on Prime days, Black Friday and Cyber Monday you can get really good deals on Kindles. And for those of you that didn't know Amazon will give you a little bit of credit for you older Kindle in GOOD shape. So when I purchased this new Paperwhite, I did it on Black Friday I think and I did a trade in. So I saved a good chunk of change. If you are still undecided about this Kindle I have to tell you it's so worth it. Especially if you're a reader it makes it so much easier. And there are so many cute cases you can get for this Paperwhite.

Do it!!!
I was on the fence for a long time but so glad I committed! Portable, lightweight, easy on the eyes. Simple to use. So much more convenient than toting my books (which I love so much) everywhere. The charge is insane. I’m a heavy reader and have yet to charge it. Very responsive to my touch and I can see it in direct sunlight!!! Small (I’m petite) and lightweight (lighter than my iPhone 16 plus). Fun to accessorize with inserts and plug covers. Can’t believe it took me so long to get one but grateful I did! Works seamlessly with the Amazon world and I’ve had no issues accessing my Libby books on it. Take the plunge!!

Worth the price and works well!
Worth the price! My first kindle and I’m in love with the ease of use. The settings are simple, but make it easy with what you intend, to read. Definitely keep the brightness to a lower setting to reduce battery drain, it improved significantly doing this. First, go through your settings fully then enjoy your kindle. So far it responds fast to commands, seems durable, and the touch sensitivity is good. I would suggest buying the short-term warranty/insurance coverage if you’re worried about damages or possible defects. Better to be safe for an affordable price! Would also recommend buying the wireless charger so you can dock it and leave it, pay attention to the max thickness of cases/inserts if you want to have one on your kindle. Overall, it’s been a great product and I’m excited to read more books.

Major Upgrade to Older Kindle Paperwhite
Major upgrade from my old 10th generation paperwhite, so I am very pleased with this purchase! It runs so much smoother than I'm used to and is super responsive. I mainly got this because I was tired of having to dig around for a micro usb cable for my old kindle, so I appreciate the upgrades. The kindle has a premium feel to it, and the color is absolutely gorgeous. It's definitely got me back into reading ngl and I love it. I also enjoy the adaptive brightness on the screen, that's a new plus for sure. Definitely worth it for the sale I got it on too.

Finally Pulled the Trigger and Bought an eReader
*This is an unpaid, unsponsored review with no AI involved. For years, ever since eReaders became a thing, I've considered purchasing one. The idea behind them is great: hold tons of books, have a massive battery life, a screen that's readable on the brightest of days, etc. As great as they seemed, however, I held to my deep-rooted belief that physical books were superior. You can't beat the feel of a physical book! You can't beat the smell of cracking open a brand new book, or especially a good old one! Having books on your shelf looks great and shows your reading accomplishments! About a month ago and for a number of reasons, I decided to finally pull the trigger on an eReader (specifically the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition) and boy am I impressed. First thing's first. This is NOT a tablet. It's not going to be as fast at navigating as your smartphone. The user interface isn't going to have a homescreen that you're used to with phones/tablets. It's not going to have the ability to download other apps to use. AND THAT'S THE BEAUTY OF IT! This is a device solely dedicated to reading. There are no notifications popping up while you use the kindle app, no whispers from it telling you to take a peak at your social media apps. All that being said, here are some quick bullet points about the Kindle that I've been enjoying immensely: - The size of the Paperwhite Signature Edition is perfect. Large enough to feel substantial and bigger than your phone, but compact enough to fit into small bags/purses or large pockets. - The weight, or should I say lack thereof, is crazy. It's incredibly light, especially after being so used to reading physical books. It's much more comfortable to hold/relax with, whether it be on the couch, reading chair, or lying in bed. - The screen IS pretty dang awesome without the glare of glass screens on tablets/phones. I've sat out in direct sunlight at the height of Summer and had absolutely no issue reading comfortably with no glaring issues. - The battery is absolutely kick-butt. The description says "up to 12 weeks" which seems like a wild amount of time, but I bought mine around late-July and have charged it to full once and it's still about 60ish%. (Keep in mind I do have it on airplane mode the majority of the time. Again, it's for reading, not being on the internet) - This version has the backlight which, to me, is a must on an eReader. It has a slider for strength so that you can have just the right amount of light for the area you're reading in. My personal favorite, is that the lowest settings are so gentle that it doesn't disturb my wife when reading in bed. - The 32gb of storage may seem small, but that's because of the association with phone storage. 32gb can store 10,000+ ebooks, so you needn't worry about running out of space any time soon. If I were to make one small criticism, it would be that the navigation/user interface can be a little jarring if you're not already used to navigating a kindle/eReader. As stated above, this isn't a tablet or phone. The way the screen/tech works, makes the kindle take a little more time to update your screen when scrolling/navigating. Definitely not something to worry about, though. There are a whole host of other things I could compliment about the Kindle. Goodreads integration, the ability to use Libby (library app on most app stores, check it out if you haven't already!), the waterproofing, largely adjustable font size, optional subscription to Kindle Unlimited, ability to read graphic novels, etc etc etc. To wrap up this essay-long review: if you're considering buying an eReader, I highly suggest it. I'm sure I'll still buy some physical copies of certain books in the future (gotta keep the shelves at home looking good) but so far, this is a cool, functional, fun piece of tech that will see a lot of use in your reading adventures.

Portable, great for outdoor reading, but slow if you need to use WiFi features
Years ago I had one of the early Kindles. This was before the proliferation of tablets. Once tablets came into vogue, I switched to a multi-purpose device, rather than continue with the single-purpose Kindle. Now, a decade or more later, I’m back to using a Kindle. AND a tablet. Why? Kindle allows me to read in bright sunlight; whereas, the tablet does not. If I use the tablet for e-book reading, I burn through the battery faster than I would if I just used the Kindle for reading. Then I don’t have tablet battery left for email, browsing, or (Heaven forbid) work. Also, the Kindle is light weight and tucks into a carry bag so I can read on the go. The battery charges quickly and discharges slowly, so I can read mostly uninterrupted by power supply issues. What’s the down side of the Kindle? It’s SLOW to switch among the various non-reading pages. Switching from the library to a book description is very laggy, as is the download speed. And there’s no way I’m waiting around for that slow connection if I want to actually browse the book selection on Amazon. Page turning in the book is not slow, fortunately. So, what do I do? I browse/purchase books and add/remove them from categories on my tablet, then I download and read them on the Kindle. It’s a work around to give me the best of both devices. I’ve not yet attempted to connect headphones to listen to audiobooks. My phone does well for that, so I’ve not needed to attempt it on the Kindle. I purchased a basic fold-over cover and a screen protector when I bought the Kindle, so it’s protected. I don’t, therefore, know if the device would otherwise scratch or become scuffed from my regular use. Books that I download from BookFunnel (EPUB) and send to Kindle do appear on the Kindle device. I’ve not tried to import from other sources of e-books. My experience with this Kindle is much better than with the Kindle of a decade or more ago, other than the previous Kindle’s use of cellular to download books. But WiFi is ubiquitous now, unlike years ago. Perhaps the WiFi will be sufficient.

Positive experience for first time Kindle user; shockingly easy set-up
Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition 32GB: Purchased in 2026 as my first Kindle. I have been slow to get on the bandwagon for an e-reader, as I love the experience of holding books (and always will). That said, there are positives that I am enjoying. First off, I was completely impressed with the ease of setting up the Kindle. I was prepared for excessive steps, confusing instructions, followed by frustration. It could not have been smoother: kudos Amazon. It is lightweight (even with an accessory cover). I appreciate being able to control the brightness and contrast, with the added ability to tone down the stark white page to a slightly amber hue (like the page of an aged book). Pages can be bookmarked, without having a physical piece of paper falling out or my bored cat deciding to steal it (although I do love a pretty bookmark in a real book). When it comes to price, I consider the investment to be divisible with the actual number of books I expect to read on the Kindle. If, for example, I only read two books and decide to go back to real books, then that makes my initial investment quite pricey per book. Being a voracious reader and already being won over in ways I did not expect, it will only be a matter of a couple months before factoring in the cost of books I've read (and what they would have cost as new publications in physical form) will pay for the Kindle. The size is smaller than I expected, more in the realm of a paperback book, but I am happy with the dimensions. I thoroughly am charmed by having a built-in dictionary. At this point, I have had the Kindle for almost three weeks and have already read 6 books. I do not think the battery life is as long as advertised (up to 12 weeks), but perhaps that means just sitting unused? I have found the battery to go from 100% to about 65% in one week, reading for varied lengths of time throughout the day (totaling a very rough estimate of at least 2 hours per day). I am still addicted to the experience of holding a physical book, but Kindle has won me over for an e-reader.

Six months later, I still use it every single night.
I bought my Kindle about six months ago as part of the bundle that included the cover and the wireless charging dock, and I’m so glad I did. I use it every single night, and it’s become one of my favorite purchases this year. What I appreciate most is how comfortable it is to read on. I use the warm light setting every evening, and it’s incredibly easy on my eyes. I’m very sensitive to screens before bed because they can affect my sleep, but reading on my Kindle has been a completely different experience. It’s become part of my nightly routine and sits permanently on my bedside table. Another reason I bought it was to simplify my home. I had accumulated hundreds of physical books over the years and simply didn’t have the space anymore. Switching to a Kindle has allowed me to continue reading without adding more bookshelves to my home. The wireless charging dock has also been worth it. I love being able to place the Kindle on the stand at night knowing it’s always charged and ready to go. The cover has protected it well and still looks great after months of daily use. The only thing I would do differently is choose a Kindle model that supports Audible. I enjoy listening to audiobooks as well as reading, so I currently have to use my phone for Audible. If I were buying again today, I’d probably upgrade to a model that lets me do both on the same device. Other than that, I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. It’s made reading more enjoyable, helped me reduce the number of physical books I own, and has become something I genuinely look forward to using every evening.
