Graphical history
Just seeing the great military campaigns, population moves and religious movements of history in a physical/geographical context makes them so much easier to follow. The summaries too are excellent, inevitably superficial but cpaturing key events well. It has become my constant companion to books on ancient history. A lovely thing to have next to one.

Great gift
I bought this as a gift, it’s a great book with really clear information and helps link history to a lot of geographical factors & issues. This is not the kind of book you would buy if you wanted lots of detailed information about a specific historical event, it is much more broad and gives you a base knowledge of key points in history. I really liked the graphics and it is a great quality book.

Great find
I came across this at a physical bookstore while I was browsing but its size/weight made it impractical to buy at the time. It seemed like a great book and I thought it would be a good Christmas present for my children. Anyway, I got home and got onto Amazon and, incredibly, the book was marked 55% RRP off so I think the Universe was giving me a gift there. I saved $35... yay!

Consider buying if you can afford it
Excellent book. The maps are gorgeous, the information is legit (backed by Smithsonian), and there is an incredible amount of history you can learn about in it.
