Very happy with this train. Compared to other trains by the same vendor, this one is remarkably faster and stronger!The tune it plays ("We Wish you a Merry Christmas") is quiet and pleasant, which when dealing with kid's toys is usually a good thing!That said, the motor being so strong also means it's rather loud. You can't hear the tune well over the motor. This can likely be fixed with some absorbent material (like tape) in certain places, or maybe some weaker batteries?For us, the quiet tune is just fine!

We were impressed with the appearance and quality of this powered train. It’s quicker than the other similar trains, and is very durable- holding up well to two 2-year-olds not only playing with it on the wooden track but sending it across the tile down the hall! The sleigh with Santa and the additional freight car added to the fun. Fit perfectly on our wooden track. The motor is a bit noisy, made it difficult to hear the Christmas song it can play when you push a button. Even with being on most of the day, the batteries have lasted just fine. Glad we bought it and likely to buy some of the others in this line.

The train itself is great. However, it should be noted that its size is a bit taller than average, which means it can't pass through some bridge components or some tunnel sand small houses. In addition, the internal gears are relatively fragile. Kids like to stop the train by holding it. Another train of mine, made by Hape, has no problems at all. Even though you can always hear the gears grinding, it doesn't get damaged. But the gears of this train have broken, leaving only two of the four wheels with driving power, which seriously limits its climbing ability. Also, this design with eight wheels and a front-back split structure makes it more prone to derailment.

Our son loves this train! It goes forward and backwards and plays music!

The engine has difficulty going up bridges. Definitely can’t pull more load. Gets stuck. Light works only on one side not the other.But can pull it together to some extent. We had to remove the bridge. Also, it does better job at pushing than pulling.

Didn't know it was battery operated - I was just looking for something he could put a 'guy' in - he absolutely loves it! (Granted, he has no other battery-operated toys.) It goes forward & back, & can play a song. Worked well for the (entire!) week he was here.

This Christmas train is fantastic! Such a good deal- very reasonably priced, when I ordered I didn’t even realize it is motorized, plays a Christmas song and has a light. Very strong motor, works perfectly with Brio and other wooden train tracks/sets. Well made and looks great! My grandsons love it!

Bought two of these. Both battery compartments were impossible to open. After much frustration, finally gave up and returned them.
