After a fair amount of online research, I felt there was potential for benefit from an iodine supplement -- possibly great benefit, but almost certainly a little. So much goes on inside our bodies of which we are not aware until it is too late to prevent catastrophic illness that it seems prudent not only to try to eat a balanced diet (which is impossible to identify, thanks to so much conflicting information available, complicated by one's individual physiology), but identify those things which seem likely to be of help in warding off or curing maladies. Research and reason led me to believe that iodine is not only one of those things of help, but very *rare* in its ability to positively impact our health in different ways. I encourage anyone reading this to do his own research. (I also encourage you to carefully consider the sources of information. If people can successfully treat and prevent cancer with simple, inexpensive iodine and/or *baking soda*, doctors, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies stand to lose *billions of dollars* for treating cancer patients (many of whom are killed by the treatments). Keep this in mind: a far greater percentage of people die of cancer now than a hundred years ago, before chemotherapy and radiation treatments began development. I don't know for sure that the treatment is worse than the disease -- and it might be -- but it's clear that people are at least *getting* cancer at higher rates than ever and there is a fair body of work suggesting that (1) the vast majority of us have iodine-deficient diets (outside of Japan and a few other areas) and (2) there seems to be a correlation between iodine deficiency and malignant cancer rates (which are very low in Japan and a few other areas). Again, there is a lot of information to consider and I strongly encourage you to do your own before making decisions that will affect your health. Reading this review is a start, but don't stop here.)Everything considered, I decided that taking a Lugol's iodine solution is a good, safe bet for me. I decided to try this Carlyle's offering based on potency (2%, as I wanted to start off slowly and have greater flexibility in dosage), availability (same/next day), and price (cheap). The day I got it, I put two (2) drops in about eight (8) ounces of water and drank it. Within hours, I noticed a slight but certain increase in energy to a level that I hadn't felt in years. It felt natural and sustained -- not the short-lived, jittery feeling one gets from a large cup of coffee or some "instant energy" drink that you just *know* will have negative long term effects on your body from having placed your systems in overdrive. That first night, it did take me a couple more hours to get tired enough to sleep, but in the ensuing days I have been able to resume my normal sleep schedule despite taking 2 drops of Lugol's twice or thrice daily and enjoying sustained, natural-feeling energy levels every day. (Note: I am over 60 years old and work on my feet ten (10) hours per day. The difference is real -- and welcome. Noticeable results in you may differ.) Besides using water as a medium, I have put my 2 drops of Lugol's in anywhere from 4 to 12 ounces of apple juice, milk, coffee, and root beer. I have found it unobjectionable in all of the above. When bringing drink to face, I notice the aroma of the iodine before drinking it; frankly it seems unnatural. After all, this is the smell of tincture of iodine (which is alcohol-based, unlike Lugol's) -- the stuff used to disinfect woulds and make them sting. (Who likes the stinging part? I still use it, though, because it WORKS.) The taste is very mild -- and might be unnoticeable if I exhaled at the start. I'll have to try it... but it doesn't bother me in drinking it normally, so it's no big deal if breathing helps or not. Sorry for the meandering review, but though I'm anxious to get back to something pressing, I wanted to share my experience with others in the hope that it will provide them with useful information in providing themselves with better health; I just had to get this out there.

This is excellent iodine.. It's very clean and pure with almost no flavor.. I would have preferred that it was shipped in a small box, but they packaged it well... and the less expensive packaging allowed them to price it within my skinny budget. The droppers are extremely nice, and well graduated units, made for specific sized droplets.. not your regular eye droppers.. These have an extra nib at the end where the glass is sized and shaped specially to hold the drop for vertical application and more precise measurement. The glass is graduated in 1/4ml amounts, from 0.25ml to 1.0ml. The bottle itself has a rubber dropper/shaker tip inserted in the top for standard applications which was relatively easy to remove with only fingers and a paper towel to keep any excess off of my hands..I bought this iodine after research on the web concerning all three standard types of preparations.. Nascent, Lugol's, and Tincture.. Lugol's is the standard preparation, used not only for iodine supplementation and recovery, but also for cuts and even sanitizing water.. Nascent is more commonly used for supplementation and contains more iodide than iodine so the body spends less time converting iodine, to iodide --before it makes use of it.. Nascent was also more expensive, so I opted for the standard bottle that cost less.. A Tincture tends to be mixed with other minerals and can be transparent due to the tiny amount of everything in it.. Tinctures are for more common every day use by the average Jo and Joline * chuckles *.I used the Trace Minerals brand of iodine tincture -with trace minerals, for almost 2 years and was not quite satisfied with how much it took to maintain my balance since I have an iodine poor diet... so it is nice to have the real thing at last.. and be able to make mine own tincture if, and as needed.Iodine is one of the most important trace minerals that our bodies simply HAVE TO Have.. Fortunately.. it is rather common, and we need very little on a daily basis... The body also has the ability to store limited amounts of iodine, so mind your dosing. Every organ in the body requires it. Furthermore, the hormones the thyroid produces are used everywhere in the body.. from your very hair and nails and skin all the way to digestion and immunity and even your heart and kidneys... The symptoms of iodine deficiency are hard to trace without lab testing because.... of everything.. literally everything, needing it..One way to determine if you are deficient is to place a drop on your skin and wipe off the excess. If the yellow color goes away within roughly 2 hours.. You are deficient.. The faster it is absorbed?? The greater the deficiency. This test of course, is not entirely accurate.. It is better to find out from your doctor for certain, and to assess your diet carefully.If you prefer to use sea salt, or Himalayan salt.. and you do not eat other foods like seaweed on a regular basis... that are naturally high in iodine --then you ought to supplement.. I went so low on Iodine that I could not even eat pork, or have even a decent cup of coffee.... chronic deficiency can even cause sensitivity to pollution, tiredness, weight gain, water retention, hair loss, loss of control of things like eczema... salt sensitivity, breathing issues, slowed immune response, and a host of other issues after several years of chronic deficiency... One must also not have too much... iodine in the diet.. Please do your research when considering supplementation, and keep in mind it takes a good while to restore bodily balance after you begin.....Finally finding out what was wrong, and correcting my imbalance restored my life, and has also done the same for others..In conclusion, and after much dissertation.. * chuckles * this brand of iodine is definitely satisfactory, and priced at a reasonable amount I could afford.. I recommend it..

This is what you use if you don’t wanna get a goiter or if you’re worried about your thyroid. I put a couple drops into my smoothies or my coffee to cover the taste. You can also check to see if you’re low on iodine by rubbing a few drops on the inside of your wrist where your skin is lightest and seeing how long it takes for it to go away. Thankfully, by using this, I can put a patch on every once in a while and it’ll be on the next morning still that’s a good sign if it’s gone and under two hours, you need to keep doing it ingesting or wearing.

The product is excellent!!! However the delivery is horrible!!! The suctions glass part was broken!!! I bought two and both were broken and poorly packaged!!! Im mad as hell.

A great product. Have used before and very happy with it. Have written on the USA Amazon last year already so shall refrain from doubling up now:)Peace.PS am using for general health and always feel invigorated and well after taking my Lugol's. I am now taking 10 drops a day (of the 2% solution, we can not get the 5% solution apparently, not sure why) and also one Selenium vitamin with it. I take my other vitamins earlier or later during the day, never at the same time as Lugol's. Once every 2 month I take a Lugol rest for 4 days and then start again. Easy to take, doesn't taste bad at all and the health benefits are so many, I think Iodine should be in everyones vitamin cupboard!I also take every morning bicarbonate soda, just 1/4 teaspoon so not too much, to start the day with a alkaline boost. Then after about 10 minutes I have my coffees before going to work. The Lugol Iodine I mostly take late in the afternoon but some may prefer earlier in the day as it can keep you awake a bit.

I am only saying this so that no one else will experience my situation, not to belittle anything. I used this product(one drop one glass water )for four days. In four days, my body became weak and I experienced all kinds of problems, including headaches. What I have now realized is that these supplements that say potassium are just marketing and business to deceive people. No one should use them and do not harm their own body. It should be considered as advice from the person who used them. Thank you, actually this product not use in orealy it's use out side body because it's smell like government hospital quality iodine
