Highly recommend for kitten rearing or a fun cat den!
UPDATE: So, my big Maine Coon really liked the 27” Chocolate I bought for kitten rearing 1.5 years ago. But, well, he is a bit too big for it. So I have been keeping an eye out and finally found another Amazon Warehouse deal, this time for the 42” in Sage. He fits better. He likes it. All the cats currently think it is their personal play area. Love these crates.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I have a pair of sweet 2 week old kittens some pile of human garbage bagged up and chucked out of a car window on the freeway access road. I also have a number of other cats, ranging from a 15-year-old former feral, to a 27lb Maine Coon.I recently bought the geriatric cat a K&H Pet Products Deluxe Lectro-Kennel Heated Pad, which was quickly repurposed into the base of a cardboard box as a continual heating source for my surprise babies. They graduated from a cardboard box to a traditional wire kennel, but I found that the traditional wire kennel had some sharp spots and as my own cats jumped on it, it would creak loudly and frighten my new babies (and the wire on top wasn’t too steady for my big cats’ feet). Obviously not acceptable - only the best for my new babies! Amazon has everything, right? I immediately began the hunt for something... better. A sturdier crate my cats could jump on. A crate without sharp edges. A crate with options for kitten access (because these poop machines need the bottle every 2-4 hours). A crate that could be their den. And just maybe something a little less ugly.I searched for Amazon Warehouse Deals and happened across this crate in 27” size in “Used Acceptable” condition for $37. I read the reviews and hesitated. With trepidation, I convinced myself all the reviews about its poor quality were from folks using it for dogs, and my gargantuan cats would be no issue. I wondered what “acceptable” condition was. But I had no comparable options in remotely such a low price range, so I bought it.I LOVE THIS CRATE. I received the “generation II” variety. “Acceptable” condition was brand spanking new, with one metal clip detached (which I snapped back in with reasonable effort). It is SO perfect. It is more den-like and offers more of a “home” than a stark wire crate. It doesn’t have sharp edges (trust me, I felt it up for 15 minutes). I LOVE the garage door, I love the top door... I love all the doors. I love how sturdy it is (those clips are metal, not plastic junk). I love that my cats can jump on the solid top without terrifying themselves or my kittens. I love that is has wheels (when kitten rearing is over, this will be used to take that 27lb Maine Coon to the vet so I can roll him, ha ha).If you use for YOUNG kitten rearing, be aware the spacing of the bars is big and you may need to watch that. I zip tied cardboard on for a den experience and safety when my kittens were palm-sized.It is heavy but not obscene. The crate mat has nice bolsters but the middle thickness is minimal. That said, it’s decent (not total junk like the black mat someone posted in another review). The size small heated kennel pad I have fits perfectly inside the bolsters of the crate mat and is also an excellent product (found here for those interested: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013V5GIQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s03?ie=UTF8&psc=1).I can’t speak to how this would withstand a dog’s weight, potential chewing, etc... but I can tell you that I wish I had bought this a decade ago for kitten rearing. I would have even paid the usual full price tag for it. I am thrilled!

Useful for some situations but not all
This crate may serve some purposes like car travel well since it's not too tall and the garage style door may work better in the back of an SUV. For my needs, I was very disappointed.I have a smallish 20 lb dog that just had spinal surgery and needs strict crate rest. I purchased this 36" by 24" crate for the large garage style door, thinking it would be easier to lift her in and out of this crate with the larger opening. This was the only crate I could find with such a large side door opening. We used it for a few day as her sleeping crate...set on a table next to the bed. We also got a larger, 42" long by 27" wide wire crate that is much taller as her day-time living room crate. She is much happier in that crate. After 2 nights we ordered a second wire crate and we will use that for sleeping. I am not sure if we will use this crate again.Cons:Very expensive...poor value. To get this crate in the timeframe I needed it, I paid the full $250. I do not think it is worth half of that. I had seen it for closer to half that price but we needed it urgently. The crate is not sturdy. When the door is open, I would describe it as a bit wobbly. If you have a strong dog that wants out, I would not be comfortable leaving the dog unattended in this crate. Even though it's not sturdy, it actually weighs more than the larger wire crate. The ceiling height is low, esp after I put a 4" memory foam pad in the crate. My relatively small dog with short legs could barely clear the ceiling when sitting up. This made her claustrophobic. My dog was not crate trained so it may be less of an issue for a dog that is crate trained. As someone else mentioned, the wide side garage-style door is a great idea but a poor execution. The garage door is hard to open...it gets stuck...and it's noisy. So when you open it to get out the dog, it's stressful, especially for a dog recovering from surgery.Pros:- The garage-style door is a great idea and opens wide if you need to lift the pet in and out.- If your pet likes a more cave like environment, the solid top and lower height helps make it more enclosed.- It is more compact in size then the wire crates- You can leave the door open if you want a nice little hangout place for a dog

Spaces in the wiring too wide for a cat
I bought this for my cat because she hates going into a pet carrier and I thought she would be more comfortable in this larger crate, especially with all the side panels that open. However, the holes between the wire mesh that is on the sides of this crate are spaced too far apart for a cat. The cat pushes her whole arm/leg and paw through the holes and tries to claw me to get out. I can't put my hands near the latches to open or close the doors without getting clawed. Could be dangerous to have an aggravated cat trying to claw its way out of this. Otherwise it is very nicely made and attractive and easy to roll and lets a lot of air inside for the animal. A small dog or a calm cat might really like it. If you plan to use this to transport a pet inside your car, take careful note of the dimensions, to ensure that it will fit into your car. Might take up a lot of room in a car's backseat and might not fit in all cars.

Serval approved
Fits a serval. She took to it immediately. She was able to push her way through zippers, getting out at awkward times like driving. She took to this case immediately, and with plenty of room. The only thing I may do is get a slightly different interior pad. Something with memory foam for longer drives. If it had such a pad, which was also machine washable cover, I'd have given it 5 stars, so for people who aren't really picky about a thinner inside pad or like an inside pad like that, it would be 5 stars.

Elegant looking kennel
Beautiful kennel! Haven't seen anything like it anywhere in the pet stores. Very sturdy and also opens from top, side and entire front, which is so convient. Very classy looking and easily moves from room to room with the handle. Strongly recommend it.

Beautiful kennel
My dog has separation anxiety and tends to destroy during my absence. That's why I bought this kennel. So far so good! He scratched a little near the door, but the plastic looks very resistant. I added black tie rap on the folding side so he could not hope to escape from there. I am very satisfied with my purchase and this kennel is much more beautiful than the regular metal kennels. I can now go to work and be sure that I will come home to a house in good condition and that my dog is safe! (My dog is a Weimaraner that weights 65 pounds)

Great crate! But definitely would not put a 70 lb dog in it
The crate is great looking and high quality. I cannot speak to chew proof as our Chase is not a chewer but what I can say is that the size recommendations are off - specially if you are crating your pup during the day. Chase is a 35 pound Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and in the 36" crate he can move around comfortably and stand up completely.
