Amazingly robust charge controller
I got this charge controller for a large boat and boy did it not disappoint. The high humidity and high temperatures on a boat can really eat at your electronics so I needed something that can withstand this. Out of the box I was impressed with its construction: the device is very sturdy and robust. It's made out of metal, is somewhat heavy and feels commercial-grade heavy duty. I like the self-cooling feature which is a must in my high-heat environment. Installation was easy, just plug and play: I connected it to the solar panel cables and the battery cables using only a screwdriver. I use it for a 12V setup and it did very well. 60A is a little more than I needed for now but it made the device future-proof for me in case I'll be adding more solar panels or higher-powered solar panels in the future. I also like that it comes with the battery temperature sensor which makes it possible to track the temperature on lithium batteries and prevent overheating. Those batteries are not cheap and marketed for 10+yrs so having this safety definitely helps expand their lifespan. Potential con is that the charger is a little bit bigger and heavier than the lower-powered MPPT charge controllers (like the Rover), though not terribly so. I found it easy to install on a boat where space is tight. The charger is in fact built mostly for larger off-grid setups like RVs so the added size is expected. I can also see how this could easily supply an off-grid cabin, it's just that powerful. The LCD screen controls on the device are very intuitive and self-explanatory, there's barely any learning curve. The screen is big and easily visible which is a big advantage for me since I like to monitor my devices remotely. Pro tip for viewing the status of the device from anywhere, you can install a simple residential-grade battery powered wifi/LTE camera facing the screen of this device so you can monitor the charging status from anywhere (that's what I did). Overall, highly recommend this MPPT charge controller for any application where you need a lot of power and the conditions are harsh. With a 2 year warranty, you really can't go wrong. Hopefully I can get much more and many happy years out of it.

Solid controller
Got this about a year ago to run a ~450w panel, and its been great so far. I wanted something that gave me room to expand, and something that did not need a phone or some app to use it. I was able to set it up just using the built in buttons and screen. Maybe theres more that can be done with the phone, but I have no interest in that. If I were to set up another system, I would probably get this controller again.

Installed easily, one odd error that self cleared
Nov 14, 20205 - Renogy 60A MPPT Solar Charge Controller 12V/24V/36V/48V Auto, 150V Maximum Solar Input, Compatible with Lithium AGM Gel Batteries, for Home RV Marine Workshop, Rover Lite 60A Edit Nov 15, 2025 In re-running the wires, the battery disconnect caused the Controller to reset. I checked all the settings again and found the battery set to Gel. I reset the battery to flooded, and the lights do not flicker when the RV converter is off and the load is on. Upgraded to 5-star. Finally got around to putting solar on my newer travel trailer. As everyone says, this Charge Controller is solidly build and easy to install. This is the first 60A I've bought but have a 30A on my other travel trailer. I used 4AWG "welding" cable (overkill, could have been 6) to hook it up. First, I connected without running (installing) cables to let the system "burn in" and see if there would be issues. No, so installed it all today. Now, I run the "load" to the WC Power Center. That works fine on my older trailer. This time, when I turned on the load with the converter on, it seemed to be fine, but after one minute, the lights started flickering. Very annoying. Also, the first time I shut off the converter, I got a Load E04 error, and the load was flashing. That mean there was a short in the load?!?!? By the way, as per the manual, the rated load current is 20A DC. If you have an inverter, you can overload. Anyway, I shut off the load and the converter, and restarted. No errors, and the load seems fine. I did not buy the temp sensors or the bluetooth. Now, this MPPT controller is large, about twice the size of an earlier one. I home that means robust. If you are installing on a vertical surface in your travel trailer, it is a lot of wait. Choose the location carefully. If I get the years out of it that I got in my older travel trailer, then this will be a good value for your money.

Very reliable and easy to use.
Although Renogy custom service has gone downhill lately, their products are still first class. I have 6 of their solar controllers and they have all been reliable. Never a problem.

Worked good for a while then....
Worked for 14 months, then it just quit recognizing the battery voltage. Manuel reset it to 12 volts, and it just keeps switching to 24 and showing a fail

Great Solar Charge Controller
This Renogy 60A MPPT Solar Charge Controller is a great replacement for the unit from a different manufacturer that failed on me after only six months. It has been working perfectly since I installed it. I have great faith in Renogy products; my other Renogy 30A DC to DC charger with MPPT has been running non-stop in my camper van for over three years without any problems. I know this one will last much longer. I also ordered the BT-2 Bluetooth Modules for both this charger and my camper van's controller, and it's a fantastic feature. Now they both show up in the same app, displaying the total solar energy being generated. My only complaint is the size, it's much bigger than the other brand's and takes up a lot of extra space in my setup.
