The JAPAN S shoes are based on one of our throwback offerings from 1981. This reworked iteration is formed with a low-top silhouette that's complete with a court-inspired toe box and throwback colorways. Updated with a modified cupsole, this shoe is offers comfortable underfoot cushioning. Mimicking the aesthetic of a heritage basketball sneaker, this style is also paired with nostalgic branding, like the ASICS Stripes on the quarter-panels and "ASICS" lettering at the heel. The JAPAN S shoe's vintage basketball aesthetic is also paired with iconic court-specific details that are inspired by footwear worn by basketball players in the 1980s.

Nice shoes
Well-constructed. May run slightly larger than the Asics running shoes but still fit. Comfortable. The sole compound is ortholite which is nice but a firm compound. Wife says they are kind of loud when I walk on the hard floors early in AM. Good lifestyle shoe with jeans.

Not for me
Nice shoe, and very comfortable. I returned them only because they seemed quite bulky, and the sole is pretty thick. I dont need the extra height considering im over 6 feet. But if you need an extra inch or two these are stylish, comfortable and feel like a quality product.

Just like the old days!
These are the first pair of sneakers I've had in what seems like a decade that recieved dozens of compliments the first day! Love them for the fit, the standard asics quality, and most importantly, the look! Planning on buying a few more pair to store in the closet for a future time when I need a pick me up.
