Splat Mat for Under High Chair, Waterproof Washable High Chair Floor Mat

UPDATE BELOW Yes, yes, yes! Gone are the days of getting on my hands and knees to wipe clean the floor after every meal. So here’s the deal—my 20-month old loves to throw his food, despite our best efforts to redirect and teach him not to. It’s a phase that’s lasted longer than we anticipated, and I was getting so tired of cleaning the floors multiple times a day. Prior to buying this splat mat, we used one of those disposable table cloths—the kind with the waterproof plastic top and felt bottom. That works fairly well until it started ripping from getting caught in our son’s Boon Flair highchair wheels. I initially thought $24 was a bit steep for a piece of fabric meant to catch food, but after using it for a couple of weeks, I can attest to it being worth every penny. I love how the bottom is grippy, allowing us to easily roll his highchair on and off the mat. The waterproof quality of the fabric is fantastic, and the arrows print against the grey background is lovely and neutral. It also doesn’t stain and washes up nicely and easily in the washer. Though the directions say to hang dry, I’ve dried it in the dryer with no ill-effects. The only wish I have is that it be a tad wider because my son’s arm is pretty good and food occasionally flies outside the width of the mat. Aside from that, this is a wonderful splat mat. Update August 2019: My son is now past the food-throwing phase as he is approaching 3 years old, but that doesn’t mean this handy little splat mat is collecting dust. We’ve used this for Play-Doh, painting, and kinetic sand. It’s fantastic for containing/catching messes! My once-grey mat is now covered in a rainbow of paint splatters from my little budding artist’s creations, but I kind of love it because it reminds me of all the fun he’s having being a toddler. If you get this mat for your new eater, definitely consider keeping it for the toddler years as it will continue to prove its worth.

I needed something other than flattened Chewy boxes to cover the floor area in my rabbit enclosure. I looked for various mats but they were super expensive to cover to the area I needed. Never in my life have I heard of a splat/high chair mat but luckily the wisdom of google brought it into the realm of my awareness. It’s the perfect size (I got the larger option). It seems durable and should protect my floor from whatever mess my rabbit might make. It looks way better than cardboard boxes and should be much easier to clean. I’ll probably get a second one to change it out occasionally. Its not 100% slip-proof so don’t go getting the dancing plague while standing on one of these things but it stays in place much better than I expected. Totally worth the 20 smackers.

This is a great mat! It’s thick, durable, and easy to clean. I just shake it off and toss it in the washer and dryer, and it comes out looking like new. Even though it’s meant for under high chairs or arts and crafts, I actually use it under my parrot’s cage, and it works perfectly! It catches all the mess and stays in place.I highly recommend it for anyone needing a sturdy, waterproof floor protector.

It has worked well for catching the food she drops straight down. However, I have a thrower. She tosses food in a festival of feasting. With that kind of range, I might be better off with a tarp. The white background is now permanently stained from the pasta sauce and other colorful food items my daughter has smathered it with. I would recommend for children who drop, not children who throw. the non-slip grip on the bottom is great and it does hold water when you go to pick it up. It washes well in the washing machine on heavy duty, but doesn't go in the dryer so it takes a while to dry out. I recommend washing after bedtime and letting hang dry overnight. Other than the distance part, we love it and we will buy again!

I bought this after seeing them at my daughter's. They are great for protecting floors under dining tables when children are eating. Easy to wash and dry.

We purchased this "splat mat" in October 2021. As we reach almost two years of daily use, we couldn't be happier. It has been an integral part of feeding our child - it's saved our wood floor countless times from liquid spills and food drops. Plus, clean up is easy - just fold it in half and carry everything to the sink. In the early days, we found it easier to machine wash every few days, about 6months in switched to approximately 1x/week, and about 18mo in switched to biweekly/as needed. Even with all that washing, it still does a great job resisting liquid spills and the bottom sticky material is just starting to wear in a few small spots (and not enough to cause concern at all as the mat still resists moving when a highchair/chair is moved on top). There are a few areas where the food stains left their mark (i.e. gray of the mat is slightly discolored), but we'd rather that mark be on the mat than on our floor so we see it as a job well done!

I'm a big fan of Dr. Ian Dunbar and his method to 'foolproof' puppy rearing. Limited your puppy's access to potential trouble is a great way to set them up for future success and teach them the rules of the house in small increments, so that there is more rewarding and less unfortunate "oopsies!" The more you can reduce accidents—whether it's potty accidents, chewing, or breaking other houserules—the faster your puppy learns! A big part of this is making sure they have a space where they can stretch out during the parts of the day when you won't be around to keep a constant eye on them, while still being in a controlled environment. Puppy pens are SO handy for this! And although, ideally, your puppy is still being taken out often enough that accidents won't happen... anyone who's raised a puppy knows, the process is far from perfect. Whether your puppy playpen is going to be on hardwood, tiles, or carpet—these baby spill mats are GREAT for protecting your floors! It makes cleanup so much easier. I had my playpen set up in my office, which unfortunately is a carpeted environment... not very forgiving of urine. 10/10 for sturdiness. It survived a teething Siberian pup, so it can probably survive anything else you throw at it. Cleans up easily with wipes, a hose-down, or a toss into the wash.

This splat mat ended up being exactly what I hoped for when I bought it! My 16 month old drops food off his high chair when he’s done eating, he does it so fast that I can’t stop him even when I’m sitting right in front of him. So there was food all over our floor all the time, I know I should have cleaned it up quicker but I’m just not that kind of cleaner and my son is not the kind of baby to let me clean up. So when we had ants, I wasn’t too surprised but I hated it, I found this mat and it’s solved the problem! At the end of the day I pick up the mat and throw the food in the garbage. The mat is big enough that it catches most of the food he throws. When I gets food splattered on it, I throw it in the washer and it’s good as new! It hasn’t stained either, I’ve been able to wash out blueberry stains, marinara sauce, and pepperoni grease with no trace. I love the grippy bottom, it never slides around so I know it’s always going to be where I want it. Did I mention that it’s super cute too?

La usamos a diario durante las comidas a modo de alfombra debajo de las tronas de los peques. Es muy útil para proteger el suelo de restos de comida y limpiar después con mayor rapidez. La lavamos frecuentemente en la lavadora y da muy buen resultado, se queda perfecta. En la parte interna tiene un relieve con rugosidades lo que permite mejor adherencia al suelo. Más adelante también tengo pensado darle otros usos (por ejemplo para utilizar como mantel cuando los peques realicen manualidades con pinturas, plastilina u otros materiales que dejen restos). Me parece una buena compra por su utilidad y más teniendo en cuenta que su uso va a ser prolongado en el tiempo, así que es una inversión que merece la pena.

I’m so impressed by this mat - makes meal times more fun for the babe and easier to manage for us. Anything that splats on the mat comes off easily with a damp cloth. Love how the mat itself is waterproof, so no moisture gets absorbed. Love how we can just throw it in the wash. It’s cool that we can move chairs over it without the mat itself being misplaced - the under grips work really well. My only wish was that it was bigger :O

Very bad product, within a month the thin outer plastic torn off in many places. Don't buy this product. The plastic sheet itself is very thin and the plastic which is comming off is very dangerous the babies may put it in their mouth.

Praktische Wasserdichte Unterlage um mit Kindern Aktivitäten umzusetzen die Matschen oder Bodenbeläge verdrecken könnten. Love this product! It's waterproof and washes so well. I typically hang to dry overnight and it's ready to go the emct morning. With three young children we have multiples of this mat. If you're looking for something to keep the dirt and grunge off your floors from little ones at meal and snack time, this is the one to get.
